At Lake Tiken, Tingsryd offers opportunities for swimming, leisure and active outings. Mårslyckesand is a swimming spot by the lake, a lakeside promenade runs along Lake Tiken, and sections of the Sydostleden run between Fridafors, Tingsryd and Växjö. The town also has signposted activity circuits, pony rides and harness racing.
Time by the water at Lake Tiken
Mårslyckesand is a swimming spot on Lake Tiken. Facilities at the swimming spot include a playground, minigolf, tennis, padel and beach volleyball. So, alongside swimming, the site offers play and a range of sports activities.
The swimming spot is accessible and has a fishing pier and a bathing ramp for people with disabilities. An existing lakeside promenade also runs along Lake Tiken and is accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. It offers a separate way to experience the lake on foot or by bike.
Tingsryd Resort is on Lake Tiken, 1.5 kilometres west of Tingsryd. Its accommodation options include large camping pitches with lake views, as well as tent pitches, high-standard cabins and cosy camping cabins. The resort therefore offers several types of accommodation in one place; the camping pitches have lake views.
The family-friendly Vattenpalatset Kaskad water park has a current channel, whirlpool, heated pool and waterslide. It is closed for renovation work; the closure began on 30 June, and the municipality estimates the renovations will take 12 to 18 months. Check the latest status before planning a visit.
Cycling and activity circuits
The southern section of the Sydostleden runs between Fridafors and Tingsryd, while the eastern section runs between Tingsryd and Växjö. Tingsryd is an endpoint for each section: one leads towards Fridafors, the other towards Växjö. This makes it easy to distinguish the two route sections by their respective destinations.
Activity circuits are signposted on the fitness trails in Tingsryd. Twelve signs present various challenges for children and adults. While the Sydostleden sections connect different towns, these activity circuits are on the fitness trails in Tingsryd.
Places to visit and harness racing
Börjes gård is a park behind the Börjes department store in central Tingsryd. Admission is free, and pony rides are offered on the grounds. While Mårslyckesand brings together activities and sports by the lake, Börjes gård focuses on pony rides in a centrally located park.
TingsrydTravet has Northern Europe's only so-called mile track: a harness-racing track measuring 1,609 metres. For many years, TingsrydTravet has held competitions in connection with Tingsryd Marknad, with occasional exceptions to this tradition.
