Moor lakes, open bogs, taiga, pine forests on eskers and species-rich meadows shape Ă…snen National Park. It also extends into the municipality of Tingsryd and helps preserve a diverse landscape of forests and lakes in southern Sweden. Exploring Tingsryd means encountering both striking natural scenery and traces of past work and ways of life.
Water, Forests and Trails
Sunnabron is the main entrance to Ă…snen National Park. There are parking areas, shelters, toilets, fire pits and an exhibition. As conditions on site can change, it is worth checking the latest information before your visit. The cycling loop around Lake Ă…snen passes the Trollberget entrance.
You can also discover a range of conditions on the water: the Värendsleden is a 120-kilometre canoe route that runs through the western part of Åsnen National Park. The route follows lakes and rivers, and includes both calm waters and fast-flowing sections. When planning, consider not only the route length but also the changing water conditions.
Tingsryd offers a variety of landscapes and trail lengths for hiking. The Korröleden runs through a meadow reserve and can be walked over a distance of about 2 to 9 kilometres. In the Hensjönäset Nature Reserve, a landscape characterised by beech forest lies between the lakes Stora Hensjön and Lilla Hensjön. There are marked hiking trails measuring 1 and 2.2 kilometres. By contrast, the Toftåsa myr loop passes through bogland and the surrounding pine forest; about one kilometre of the route follows an old railway embankment.
The municipality of Tingsryd has ten of its own cycling loops. As of August 2026, four of them were signposted on the ground; waymarking may change. Before setting out, check whether the signs match the loop you have planned.
Crafts, Industry and Historic Places
The craft village of Korrö lies on the Ronnebyån River in the municipality of Tingsryd. Its old buildings offer a glimpse of the craft businesses that once operated in the village. Ancient oak and beech forests grow in the Stenfors Nature Reserve. Information boards along the cultural trail explain how the land was used in the past. Kyrkö mosse is a forest museum featuring scrapped vehicles from the 1930s. For orientation, it is on Route 119 from Ryd towards Hässleholm, about 1.5 kilometres from Ryd. Road conditions and local facilities may change; check the latest information before travelling. Another historic attraction is Blidingsholmsbron, a stone arch bridge with eight spans built in the early 19th century. Beside the bridge are permanent eel-fishing structures known as Värmane.
Museums and Further Discoveries
The Tingsås Heritage Museum preserves an extensive photographic archive with pictures of people, landscapes and events from the parish’s past. It also has a textile collection featuring clothing from the 19th and 20th centuries. At the Yxnanäs Folk Museum, an old schoolhouse and a well-preserved country shop offer a glimpse into everyday life in the past. The collection also includes stone axes and photographs, as well as an old sawmill with a steam engine and an 18th-century dwelling.

There is also a specific activity on offer in central Tingsryd: Börjes Gård is a park area behind the Börjes department store. Children can drive miniature cars and tractors on an enclosed track; the farm also offers pony rides.
