Sveg offers a range of options for a stay: walking trails with specified lengths or difficulty ratings, seasonal ski tracks, Svegsbadet and cultural sites. If you are looking for a hotel in Sveg, you can use the time of year and your main interests as your first guides. This makes it easier to plan your stay around whether you primarily want to hike, use the ski tracks, go swimming or discover the culture of Härjedalen.
Choose walking trails by length and rating
In the municipal classification from April 2026, the Sportstugan walking trail is rated Blue and Red. Björntrampen is listed as Black in the municipal walking trail network. Björntrampen is also a 3 km hiking trail in the forests of Sveg, running alongside Fläcksberget. Check the route details if you are planning a hike on Björntrampen specifically.
The historic Sommarstigen is 7 km long, starts on Strömgatan in the centre of Sveg and is now used for leisurely walks. Comparing the two routes directly by length, Björntrampen is the shorter one at 3 km. The trails also differ in their ratings, the forest route alongside Fläcksberget and Sommarstigen’s central starting point.
The Sveg–Ljusnan walking trail has two rest stops with wooden decks and a turn-off to Lillön. Alongside routes with specified lengths, you can therefore choose from specific trail features: ratings for Sportstugan and Björntrampen, a historic starting point for Sommarstigen, and rest stops and a turn-off on the Sveg–Ljusnan trail.
Ski tracks and swimming facilities
According to the municipal information as of 1 April 2026, the Sveg ski stadium has illuminated ski tracks measuring 1 km, 2 km, 2.5 km, 3 km and 5 km. The 1 km track is a children’s track; the longest listed track is 5 km. Winter operation is seasonal, so the time of year is relevant when planning this activity.
Svegsbadet has a 25-metre pool with five lanes and a leisure area with a climbing wall and waterfall. The pool and leisure area offer different features: the details on length and lanes help you assess the swimming facilities, while the climbing wall and waterfall are features of the leisure area. If these facilities are important to your visit, check what is currently available in advance.
Culture in Sveg
The world’s largest wooden bear is located in Sveg. It is 13 metres tall and weighs 80 tonnes. The Hembygdsgården and the open-air museum in Sveg offer insights into the culture of Härjedalen through their buildings and exhibitions. Cultural attractions therefore range from a single object with precisely specified dimensions to buildings and exhibitions showcasing regional culture.
Plan your journey
Sveg has a railway station on the Inlandsbanan. If you are considering taking the train, check the timetable separately.
