Surrounded by fields and meadows, Slöinge lies between sea and forest. When planning your trip, it’s worth exploring a range of themes: architectural and everyday history, ice cream and coffee, and self-guided exploration. Each point of interest has a different focus—from the church in the northern part of the village to a bicycle rental service for exploring Slöinge and the surrounding area. This lets you choose which interests will shape your stay.
Culture and local history
Slöinge Church stands in the northern part of the village on a medieval church site. Its exterior has remained largely unchanged since the nave was built in 1835. There is an asphalt parking lot northwest of the church. The medieval church site and the largely unchanged exterior of the nave represent two different historical layers.
The Berte Museum depicts rural life in the past and how it has developed up to the present day. Since 2004, the collections of the Slöinge lanthandelsmuseum have also been part of the Berte Museum, which features a large historic shop setting. The combination of rural life and a historic shop setting focuses on everyday history, not just individual buildings.
Slöingeskolan was built in 1861 and is the oldest school building in Falkenberg still in use. Flour has been milled at Berte Qvarn since 1569. Together with the nave’s construction date of 1835, these dates offer different historical reference points: 1569 marks flour production, 1835 the church nave, and 1861 the school building. They point to distinct themes—milling, church architecture and school history.
Ice cream, flour and coffee
Ice cream has been made in Slöinge since 1961. The SIA Glass outlet in Slöinge has a large ice cream parlour serving all varieties of ice cream, as well as coffee and other drinks. The product selection may vary by season. The historical connection to ice cream production and the seasonally changing selection at the parlour are two distinct aspects of the ice cream theme.
Visitors will find a large selection of Berte flour at the SIA Glass factory shop. Stock and factory shop conditions may change. Solhaga serves organic filter coffee, artisan-roasted by the neighbouring Slöinge kafferosteri. While Berte flour is offered as part of the factory shop’s selection, Solhaga focuses on the coffee it serves and its artisan roasting.
Tour and bicycle rental
The self-guided “Södra kusten” tour points the way from the coastal road to Slöinge and the Berte Museum. The Berte Museum and SIA Glass jointly offer bicycle rentals for exploring Slöinge and the surrounding area. Booking conditions and availability may change; check these details in advance if you plan to rent a bicycle. The offers differ in their stated scope: the tour describes the route from the coastal road to the village and museum, while the bicycle rental is for exploring Slöinge and the surrounding area. When planning, you can choose between a specific destination and a broader area to explore.
