Ätran is considered a destination in inland Falkenberg where nature experiences and activities come together. When planning, the area offers different time formats: the circular trail around Lake Eseredssjön is 3.3 kilometres long, while the paddling route from Ätran to Falkenberg is offered as a three-day, 43-kilometre tour. Walking loops, swimming options, fishing, cross-country skiing and seasonal events add to the choices.

Hikes and routes

The green and yellow walking loops both start at Ätran’s ski centre; both follow part of the Hallandsleden trail. The Hallandsleden section from Ätran to Långesjön passes Lake Eseredssjön and runs alongside the campsite. The Ätranbaneleden runs through Ullared, Ätran and Fegen and is 24 kilometres long in total. There are also training routes of varying lengths near the facilities and Lake Eseredssjön for running, hiking and mountain biking. Mountain biking is possible around the lake near the Ätrans Turist & Fritid facility.

Paddling, fishing and swimming

The paddling route on offer includes five portages. At Lake Eseredssjön, you can fish from a rowing boat or from several jetties. In addition to stocked rainbow trout, you can also catch pike, bream, roach and perch there. This means the lake offers both different ways to access fishing and a variety of fish species.

Sjöbastun at Lake Eseredssjön has its own bathing jetty. Sjövikens Badanläggning is in the centre of Ätran, right next to Lake Eseredssjön, and offers three heated outdoor pools: a 25-metre swimming pool with a 3-metre diving board, a 25-metre children’s pool and a paddling pool. The swimming options therefore differ: Sjöbastun has its own jetty, while the bathing facility has heated pools.

Culture, seasons and sports

Morfars glänta is in Ätran, between the bathing area and the shelter at Lake Eseredssjön. As an art experience on the Hallandsleden trail by the lake, it brings art and nature together. Sjövikens Festplats is used during the season for music events and evenings featuring Gammaldans. Ätrans Turist & Fritid holds an annual swimming school in summer for children aged six and over.
