The Robledal del Rebollo stretches for five kilometres to the entrance to Nava de Francia. The municipality lies within a biosphere reserve; other themes for a stay include named trails, viewpoints, sculptures and festivals. If you are looking for a holiday rental in Nava de Francia, you can first consider whether your trip will focus more on hiking and scenery or on local history and festival traditions.

Forest Trails and Viewpoints

The Ruta del Bosque Animado is about 3.2 kilometres long and accessible to all age groups. The trail is set in the natural surroundings of Nava de Francia and brings together nature, hiking, imagination and environmental education. The Sendero micológico El Cabaco-Nava de Francia is on a different scale: this 13.7-kilometre route of moderate difficulty runs between El Cabaco and Nava de Francia. Its stated length and difficulty provide concrete points of reference when choosing a route.

The Senda de los Castaños Centenarios begins beside the built-up centre of El Casarito, in the municipality of Nava de Francia. The Camino del Peñasco is a different route, starting at the El Casarito recreation area. A 16.62-kilometre cycling route starts at the La Mata recreation area in Nava de Francia.

At the Mirador de Los Bardales, a fully accessible wooden walkway leads to views of the Sierra de la Peña de Francia and the Sierra de La Alberca. An unpaved track branches off the road between El Casarito and Nava de Francia and leads to the viewpoint, which can be reached by car or wheelchair.

Stone Sculptures and Local History

The Museo al Aire Libre features stone sculptures at various locations around the village. These include a welcome composition with the word “La Nava”. The parish church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario is also a notable landmark in the village’s history: it was built in the 15th century in the Gothic style.

The Dolmen La Morisca is a prehistoric, circular burial mound that may have served as a megalithic tomb. The Camino del Peñasco also takes you to the archaeological site of La Mesa del Tío Julián, which is of significant archaeological value. Along the same trail are the Figuras de Tomé: striking, curious stone sculptures.

Festivals Throughout the Year

El Perrero is part of Nava de Francia’s intangible cultural heritage and is celebrated on 31 December to mark the end of the year. A costumed figure, accompanied by two alguaciles, parades through the village streets. The Santo Cristo festival lasts five days in August. Its main day is 18 August, when the programme includes a mass, a procession with the statue, regional dances and offerings.

The festival in honour of San Blas also has medieval origins, dating back to the 13th century. It includes a mass and a procession with the saint’s statue around the parish church, accompanied by gaita and tamboril music. All Saints’ Day is marked by La Calbochada, when chestnuts are roasted and offered to the municipality’s residents. The dates provide different seasonal reasons to visit; the routes, meanwhile, can be compared by their stated length and difficulty.
