The Serra de Llaberia lies in the surroundings of la Torre de Fontaubella and is a protected natural area of natural interest. Its features include numerous springs and great geological diversity. The area also has local history and festival traditions, with events in summer and around New Year. This gives you different themes to focus on when planning your trip: landscapes, historic buildings and trails, and the town's festivals. You can tailor your accommodation search to the theme that matters most to you during your stay.

Landscape and local history

Les Casotes are the ruins of dry-stone pastoral buildings at the site of the former settlement of la Torre de Fontaubella. A gentle walk, “Un tast de la Torre,” takes you through the surrounding area and towards the original settlement site. The Torre de Rafolí is attributed to the Moorish period, though it may have an older origin. These historical features offer different perspectives: Les Casotes point to the former settlement, while the Torre de Rafolí has its own historical context and an uncertain origin.

The church also adds to the character of the town: it is dedicated to Santa Maria, and its bell tower dates from the 18th century and is neoclassical. The Rentadors are among the places with a distinctive character. Together, these places and buildings offer several points of interest for anyone interested in the history and cultural heritage of la Torre de Fontaubella.

Trails with different themes

There is also a route in la Torre de Fontaubella that explains the use of wind energy. Another route is called “De la Torre de Fontaubella a Llaberia”: it starts at the town's washing places and follows the camino de l’Aigua, also known as the camino antiguo de Llaberia. The routes therefore differ in their focus: one explores wind energy, while the other is defined by its named itinerary and starting point at the washing places.

The gentle walk “Un tast de la Torre,” by contrast, is connected to the original settlement. If you choose according to your interests, you can distinguish between a focus on landscape and energy, on the one hand, and local history, on the other. With its springs and geological diversity, the Serra de Llaberia provides another connection to nature during your stay.

Festivals and local cuisine

The Festa Major d’estiu takes place on the first Saturday and Sunday in August in honour of the Nativitat de la Mare de Déu, the Nativity of Mary. The summer festival includes a solemn mass, exhibitions, traditional games, shows for children and dances. The Festa Major d’hivern takes place at New Year with a communal dinner. The two traditions therefore offer different dates to plan around: the summer festival in August and the winter festival at New Year. If a festival is the reason for your trip, you can plan your dates accordingly and check the specific programme details in advance.

The local cuisine also offers a distinctive connection to the town. Habas con caracoles, accompanied by wine from the DO Montsant, is considered a typical dish of la Torre de Fontaubella. This adds a culinary focus to the landscape, history and festivals, which you can take into account when choosing the purpose of your trip.

Getting there and accommodation

From Falset, you can reach la Torre de Fontaubella via the T-3000 road to Marçà, then along the TV-3001 to the town. This route provides a clear guide for travelling by road. When looking for a hotel or other accommodation, you can first decide whether to plan your stay around a festival date, the local trails or the landscape.

There is a camping area in the Àrea de lleure. Facilities in the leisure area include fire pits, tables, toilets and a car park. Camping in the Àrea de lleure requires a permit from the town council of la Torre de Fontaubella. You should take this requirement into account when choosing your accommodation.
