A 35-metre-high tower, a peat bog with 20 small lakes and groomed cross-country ski trails showcase the range of travel ideas in Rogla. There are also cycling and hiking options that differ in their route format and seasonal operation.

Nature trails and peat bog

The Pohorje Treetop Trail is 1,000 metres long in total and leads to a 35-metre-high tower. Inside the tower, there are a further 440 metres of trail. The lengths refer to different parts of the experience: the total length of the trail and the additional distance inside the tower. The tower is therefore characterised not only by its height; it also has its own route inside. Another natural attraction is the Lovrenška Lakes: they form Slovenia’s largest peat bog and comprise 20 small lakes.

Cross-country skiing and seasonal conditions

The Rogla ski resort covers 100 hectares, and the cross-country skiing area has 25 kilometres of groomed trails. These are two different measures for planning: the area of the ski resort and the length of the cross-country ski routes. The cross-country skiing centre has a start-finish arena that is particularly suitable for beginners to learn and train. Check seasonal operating conditions and snow conditions before your trip.

Cycling, hiking and other routes

Cycling here involves more than one type of route: Bike Park Rogla has nine varied forest trails and a practice course, while the Zreče–Rogla A2 cycling route follows quiet roads and scenic forest paths. Comparing the two options, one offers several forest trails with a training area, while the other is a named route with sections on roads and forest paths. This is a practical distinction when choosing the type of cycling you prefer.

At Mašinžaga Park, the Flying Coaster is 1,700 metres long. Alongside it is a 1,500-metre gravity-powered track for mountain trikes, making the Flying Coaster 200 metres longer. Check seasonal operating conditions for the bike park, Flying Coaster and mountain trike track before your trip. Depending on the season, Mašinžaga also provides transport for hikers, cyclists and bicycles.

For hiking, the sixth stage of the Pohorje–Kozjak Trail is a clear point of reference: it leads from Koča na Klopnem vrhu via forest paths to Koča na Pesku and ends at Rogla. The stage specifies a sequence of starting point, stop and destination, and differs from the cycling options in that it follows forest paths.

A culinary highlight

The Pohorje Pot dish bears the “Tastes of Rogla” quality label and was created by Darinka Orlačnik, the head chef at the hotel in Rogla. This gives the trip a specific connection to local cuisine alongside the scenery and activities.

Choose the focus of your stay

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Rogla, start by deciding what you want to focus on during your trip: cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking, or nature attractions such as the trail and peat bog? The activities differ in format, length and seasonal operation.
