The Rogla–Terme Zreče circular hike is 25.9 kilometres long and passes through Resnik. The Resnik–Skomarje area is also designated as an exceptional cultural landscape within the Južno Pohorje comprehensive cultural heritage protection complex. Hiking: Route and Planning
The Rogla–Terme Zreče circular hike passes Hotel Planja, the settlement of Nune, Resnik, Ošlakova kovačija, Hotel pod Roglo, Loška gora and Terme Zreče. The route description thus names a series of stops that make the course of the 25.9-kilometre loop easy to picture. Resnik is explicitly part of this route. Factor in the full distance when planning, rather than treating the hike as a short local loop.
Between 2020 and 2022, a hiking trails leaflet and maps for hiking and cycling routes were produced for Resnik. Before planning, check whether these materials are currently available. This will let you choose a route to suit your interests without assuming that the hiking and cycling maps are still available today.
Cultural Landscape and Building History
At the house at Resnik 22, it is not just individual pieces of furniture that have been preserved. Inside, a stove and a substantial part of the furnishings have been retained. The house’s layout and floor plan also offer insight into rural life from the mid-19th century onwards. Together, these details draw attention to both the furnishings and the spatial design.
The Church of St. James in Resnik (“Cerkev sv. Jakoba na Resniku”) is one of the smallest churches in Slovenia. It has probably stood at its current location since the 15th century. Admission is free, and visits are possible by prior arrangement with TIC Zreče. Arrange a time before your visit; no regular opening hours are listed.
Events and Art in Resnik
The Jakobovi dnevi took place in Resnik in 2012 and 2014. The 2014 programme included a hike, a mass and a social gathering. These two dated editions bring the local tradition to life; the programme also shows that getting active and meeting as a community were part of the event.
The “Skumavčevi likovni dnevi” is a multi-day gathering of artists, local residents and friends of Resnik. The first edition took place in 2008; the 2026 edition is listed as the 18th. Works created during the event remain in the “Skumavčeva galerija” at the Dom krajanov. In this way, the gathering’s results also become part of Resnik’s artistic life: the works created remain connected to the gallery.
Practical Information
The motorhome stop in Resnik was opened for use on 9 March 2022. At the time of the opening, it had four pitches covering a total of 200 m², four electrical hookups, a station for emptying toilet cassettes, and electricity and water supplies. Before your trip, check whether the site is currently operating.
There are different things to check when planning: for the hike, the route length matters; for the church, a prior arrangement is required. Check in advance whether the maps are currently available and whether the motorhome stop is operating.
