From Kékítő, the view extends across Kamenný Most and the surrounding area. At 251 metres, it is the highest point in the municipality. This viewpoint offers a concrete starting point for a stay focused on the landscape, archaeological traces and local history. The themes range from protected habitats to a Baroque church and a local costume tradition. There are also named routes for cyclists, including a leisure route almost 100 kilometres long. This lets you choose the focus of your trip according to your interests, rather than getting to know Kamenný Most through just one attraction.

Protected landscapes along the Hron

Kamenínske slaniská protects inland salt flats and salt meadows, as well as Pannonian salt steppes and saline soils. The protected area also includes the cadastral territory of Kamenný Most. Starý vrch is also within the cadastral territory; there, drought-loving grass and herb communities, shrub stands on calcareous substrate, and Pannonian grasslands on loess are protected. The two areas therefore represent different habitats: salt-influenced terrain on the one hand, and dry grass and shrub vegetation on the other.

Another landscape feature is Dolný tok Hrona. The protected area also includes the cadastral territory of Kamenný Most and protects river floodplain habitats, including floodplain meadows and softwood and hardwood floodplain forests. Together, these protected areas showcase different landscape types associated with the municipality. The view from Kékítő adds a perspective on the village and its surroundings.

Archaeology and architectural history

Archaeological finds in Kamenný Most span several periods. The sites are concentrated mainly on slightly raised dunes along the left edge of the Hron’s floodplain. This setting describes a landscape where archaeological traces can be found on elevated ground at the edge of the river floodplain.

Near the Hron, two lines of ditches in the cadastral territory also flank a rampart. It is called “spečený val” and probably dates from Roman times. A later chapter in the village’s history is represented by the single-nave Baroque church Kostol sv. Maurícia: it was built in 1746, and its tower was renovated in 1957. The interior paintings are by E. Massányi and were completed in 1959. The local tradition also includes “kurtaszoknya”, the tradition of short skirts, which have been worn in Kamenný Most since the distant past.

Cycling and local events

The “Južným regiónom” cycling route passes through Kamenný Most and then continues along farm tracks near the agricultural cooperative. It is almost 100 kilometres long, intended for mountain bikes, and classified as an easy leisure route. A blue cycling route also leads to Kamenný Most along farm tracks. If you plan to take one of the routes, check local trail conditions beforehand, as the surfaces may change.

Wine tastings are also part of the municipality’s cultural events programme. The municipality organises cultural events every year together with local organisations, including tastings. If you would like to include an event in your stay, check the dates before your trip. This allows you to combine attending an event with your other travel interests without assuming there will be a fixed date.

Getting there and finding your way

Road I/76 runs through Kamenný Most for 4.5 kilometres and connects Štúrovo, Kamenný Most, Želiezovce, Kalná nad Hronom and Hronský Beňadik. Kamenný Most railway station is in the centre of the village, on the electrified single-track railway line 152 between Štúrovo, Želiezovce and Levice. The road and railway line therefore provide different reference points for planning your journey. Traffic conditions can change and timetables may vary; check them before setting off.
