Flieth-Stegelitz combines distinctive landscape features with several specific places to explore: hiking trails through fields and woodland begin in Flieth, while a village church and a village brewery shape the character of Stegelitz. Visitors from Stegelitz can also swim in two lakes. When planning your trip, you can give different weight to nature, architectural history and local brewing culture.

Moraines, Forests and Open Countryside

Stegelitz lies on a terminal moraine ridge in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve; Flieth is situated between two terminal moraine ridges. Lakes, marshes, meadows and extensive deciduous forests shape the landscape around Stegelitz. The trails from Flieth also lead through open, hilly countryside. This means different landscapes sit side by side within the destination: a forested, waterside setting around Stegelitz, and open countryside along the Feldmark circular trail.

Hiking and Cycling

For walks and hikes, Flieth offers two trails described in different ways. The Feldmark circular trail starts in the village and, after leaving Flieth, passes through open, hilly countryside. The village hiking trail “Wrietzensteig” takes a different direction: from Flieth, it heads towards Kaakstedt through the “Eulenberge” woodland, crosses the Mühlengraben and continues to Wrietzensee. When comparing the two trails, the landscape is a key point of reference: open fields on the Feldmark circular trail, and woodland with a named lakeside destination on the Wrietzensteig.

A well-developed network of hiking trails in the northern Uckermark also provides access from Flieth to forests and meadows, as well as fields, moors and lakes; it can be explored on foot or by bike. Stegelitz lies directly on the Berlin–Usedom long-distance cycle route. This gives you local hiking trails, a larger trail network and a designated cycling route to help plan your trip.

Village Churches with a History of Their Own

The churches offer two different points of interest for culture enthusiasts. The Flieth church ruins are the remains of a fieldstone church built in 1268, which burned down to its walls in 1945. A fieldstone church has stood in Stegelitz since the 13th century. Its ribbed vault, added during a renovation, is considered the only one of its kind in a village church in the Uckermark and a noteworthy feature of architectural and historical value. In Flieth, the focus is on the surviving remains of a burned-down church; in Stegelitz, it is on a distinctive feature of the church’s architecture. Guided tours of Stegelitz village church are available by arrangement; check in advance whether a visit can be scheduled.

Brewing Culture and Swimming

The “Die braut” village brewery in Stegelitz adds another local attraction to the churches. Beer brewed on site is available in bottles and kegs, alongside regular brews and seasonal specialty beers. Brewery tours and beer tastings are also offered. As visitor arrangements may change, check in advance whether a tour or tasting is available on your chosen date.

Visitors from Stegelitz can swim in the Oberuckersee and Jakobsdorfer See. The two lakes offer another way to enjoy your stay by the water. As local conditions can vary, check the situation on site before swimming.
