Along the coast, Ejerslev Lyng is home to particularly valuable natural areas. In the past, small workers’ cottages and smallholdings shaped the village; day labour and fishing supplemented people’s incomes. When planning your visit, you can therefore focus on both the landscape and former ways of living and earning a living.
Walking routes by route type
The “Ejerslev Lyng” circular walk leads from Ejerslev Havn to the water, then back to the harbour via Lyngen and Utkærvej. The harbour dates from 1911 and was once a shipping port for moler. This starting point therefore brings a specific route description together with a clearly identified part of the area’s history.
The Heart Trail between Ejerslev Havn and Mors runs along Strandvænget towards Ejerslev Lyng. At the end of Strandvænget, the route crosses a field and descends to the lagoon, which you can walk around on either the right or the left. This section of the route therefore lets you choose which side of the water to follow.
The 150-kilometre Kystruten Mors is a walking route around the Limfjord island of Mors; Ejerslev Vang lies along this route. It offers an island route on a different scale from the “Ejerslev Lyng” circular walk and the described section of the Heart Trail.
Three different points of reference can help you choose: returning to the harbour, choosing which side of the lagoon to walk around, or taking a long walking route around Mors. You can first decide which type of route best suits your planned stay.
Coastal path and viewpoint
From a southern car park in Ejerslev Vang, a coastal path follows the coastal slope to the viewpoint on Hulhøj. Hulhøj is about 41 metres above sea level. From there, the view extends to Feggeklit, the seal sanctuaries, Ejerslev Røn, Blinde Røn, Livø, Himmerland and Fur. Most of Ejerslev Vang consists of coastal meadows, grassland, coastal cliffs and beach areas.
Access to the areas in Ejerslev Vang is unrestricted. As access arrangements may change, check the local notices before your visit.
Beach and local history
Ejerslev Lyng beach is accessible via Lyngen and then Villavej. Ejerslev Lyng is also listed in Morsø Municipality’s bathing water profiles. Check the latest access information before your visit.
Skarreborg Voldsted is in the northern part of Ejerslev Lyng and is another named point of interest in the area’s history. Skarreborg Castle was built around 1100 on the summit of Krogsbjerg.
Fossil hunting for groups
Museum Mors offers groups a guided fossil hunt at Ejerslev Molergrav. For groups, this provides a guided activity in its own right, with a focus on fossils rather than the walking routes described above.
