The Luhačovice Reservoir, nature trails and historic buildings give Pozlovice its varied character. The reservoir was built on the Šťávnice River in Pozlovice in the early 20th century and is used for sports, recreation and fishing. The town lies on the southern edge of the Vizovická Highlands and on the border of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area.

By the reservoir: history and activity

A nature trail by the reservoir explores the history of the former Šťávnice Valley. It covers mills that have since disappeared, flooding in Luhačovice, and the construction and present-day role of the reservoir. You can combine time by the water with an insight into how the landscape has changed.

The Stezka zdraví (Health Trail) runs around the reservoir and includes ten outdoor exercise stations. It also has a play structure for children aged three to twelve. If you would like to plan a seasonal swim, the Duha outdoor swimming pool offers opportunities to swim and relax during the summer months. It has a pool with water attractions, a children's playground and food and drink services.

Another option for getting active is the multi-purpose sports court by the school in Pozlovice. It is intended for tennis, small-sided football, basketball, volleyball, nohejbal and other physical activities. If you have a particular activity in mind, check availability and booking conditions in advance.

Nature trails and local history

The Skřítka Větrníka nature trail in the Větrník landscape has a different focus: its six stops cover wind, wind energy and the concept of a climate spa. The trail also features wooden play elements, wooden benches and a picnic set. Its themes clearly distinguish it from the reservoir trail, which focuses on the history of the valley and water engineering.

The Antonína Václavíka nature trail starts in the centre, beside the music pavilion. It passes the Church of St Martin and the immovable cultural monument Niva, then continues to Luhačovice. The church was rebuilt in stone in 1642; an extension and side chapels were added in 1672. Its complex is protected as a cultural monument.

The church complex also includes four stone tombs and a stone crucifix. The historic organs were acquired between 1790 and 1798 and have since been restored. The rectory also tells the story of the town's architectural history: built in 1757 in the Baroque style, it bears the coat of arms of the Counts of Serenyi. The protected rectory complex includes, in addition to the rectory, outbuildings with stables and a barn, an enclosure wall and a statue of St John of Nepomuk.

Other cultural monuments include two wayside shrines: one on the field track to Horní Lhota, dating from the early 18th century, and one at the crossroads in Řetechov, dating from 1719. Those interested in fortified buildings can also visit the ruins of Starý Světlov Castle. Its stone walls are clearly visible; restoration and conservation work stabilises the masonry and protects the cultural monument.

Routes and seasonal information

A blue-marked hiking trail leads from Starý Světlov Castle to Luhačovice, passing through Pozlovice. Check trail conditions locally before planning your hike. A tourist tram also runs seasonally on part of the Luhačovice–Pozlovice route; on the return journey, it passes through Pozlovice and by the Church of St Martin. Timetables and operating dates may change, so it is advisable to check them in advance.

When choosing where to stay, you can weigh up different priorities: time by the water, the themes of the nature trails, or architectural and cultural history. The offerings described range from a seasonal outdoor swimming pool to trails with distinctly different themes; which ones suit your plans depends on your interests and the conditions at the time.
