Zlámanec lies at the confluence of the Zlámanecký potok and Neradovský potok streams in the valley of the Vizovické vrchy hills. It is located about 15 km northeast of Uherské Hradiště, on the border between the Uherskohradišťsko and Luhačovické Zálesí regions. Zlámanec also lies at the foot of the western peaks of the Vizovická vrchovina highlands. This provides a clear theme for planning your trip: the landscape, rural architectural history and cycling links can be explored as different facets of the same place.
Architectural history and local landmarks
The Talašova usedlost, a farmstead at house No. 37 on the village square, is a specific point of reference for the area’s architectural history. It illustrates several stages in the development of folk houses in Luhačovské Zálesí; its original structure dates from the late 18th century.
The chamber at house No. 5 offers a different perspective. It was built around the middle of the 19th century, and the upper room was used to store food. This gives you both an approximate construction date and a concrete example of its former use. The chamber complements the Talašova usedlost in a different way: the farmstead highlights several stages in the development of folk houses in Luhačovské Zálesí, while the chamber shows the function of a single room. Visitors interested in rural architecture can therefore compare the examples by building type, period and everyday use.
Religious monuments also vary in form and decoration. The wooden cross in Zlámanec is adorned with carved reliefs depicting the instruments of Christ’s Passion. One of the last examples of a wooden cross mounted on a massive beam has been preserved in Zlámanec; the cross is believed to date from 1874. A column-shaped wayside shrine was built in the 18th century beside a field path near the agricultural cooperative. The wooden cross combines a beam structure with Passion reliefs, while the wayside shrine stands out for its column-shaped form and location beside the field path.
A fruit-drying shed is also among the interesting local landmarks. At the edge of Zlámanec stands a hay barn, which is also considered a local landmark. Together with the farmstead and chamber, these examples add other agricultural buildings to the picture of village history.
Cycling routes and Pohádkový les
Marked cycle route 5055 passes through Zlámanec and connects the village by bike with Březolupy, Bohuslavice u Zlína and Doubravy. The C4 field path also has a sporting and recreational function and serves, for example, as a cycle route connecting Zlámanec with nearby villages. Route 5055 thus links the village with three named places, while C4 offers cyclists a different option as a sporting and recreational field path. As route conditions can change, it is worth checking the latest information before setting off.
Another activity is the annual Pohádkový les (Fairy-Tale Forest), which includes a walk through the forest with fairytale characters, games and surprises. The activities may vary from year to year. If you would like to include the event in your stay, check the dates and programme for that year’s edition in advance. This will help you plan around the programme on offer.
