Lopeník offers several clearly described route destinations. The Naučná stezka Lopeník educational trail is 7.3 km long and has eight information stations. There are also two marked hiking routes and an observation tower on Velký Lopeník. This gives you distinct points to consider when planning your trip: route, activity and themed stations.

An educational trail between nature and folk architecture

The educational trail is suitable for hiking and cycling, as well as cross-country skiing in winter. It is accessible year-round; check local conditions before a winter visit. When planning, you can first decide on your preferred activity and then check the specific route length. The eight stations also give the trail a thematic focus, while the marked routes can be distinguished by their signage, waypoints and length.

At the U Zvonice stop, visitors learn about the plants and animals of the nature monument of the same name. At the listed farmstead No. 141, the trail focuses on elements of folk architecture. The well-preserved farmstead is a remarkable testament to the history of the Moravian Kopanice. The stations connect nature themes at U Zvonice with regional architectural history at the farmstead, making the trail an interesting option for anyone choosing a hike based on its themes.

Compare hiking routes by course and length

The green-marked route is about 10.5 km long and runs from Mikulčin vrch via Lopenické sedlo, Malý Lopeník and Velký Lopeník to Staré díly. The yellow-marked route starts at the U Točny bus stop, runs via Chata Lopeník to Malý Lopeník and is about 5 km long. There is also a 4.5 km route from the Lopeník car park to the observation tower on Velký Lopeník, following the educational trail.

The yellow route is almost half as long as the green one; the 4.5 km figure, by contrast, refers to the route from the car park to the tower. The starting and ending points differ, so these figures refer to different routes. To choose, first decide on your preferred starting and ending points, then consider the distance as another planning factor. This way, you compare not only the number of kilometres, but also where each route leads.

Views from Velký Lopeník

The oak observation tower stands on the summit of Velký Lopeník in the Bílé Karpaty. The summit is at 911 m; the tower is 22 m tall. After climbing the stairs, you can see the Bílé Karpaty, Hostýnské vrchy and Vizovické vrchy, as well as the Beskydy on the Czech side and Malá Fatra and Malé Karpaty on the Slovak side. Views of these landscapes depend on the weather. If the tower is your destination for the day, factor both the climb up the stairs and the weather-dependent views into your plans.
