A medieval fortress site, churches from different periods and a protected forest give Prusinovice a varied character. Visitors choosing the town for a stay will find a range of points of interest: architectural history, distinctive monuments in the landscape, designated routes and a duathlon featuring running and mountain biking.
Churches and History Across Several Periods
The Church of St Catherine (sv. Kateřiny) brings together several building phases: its foundations date back to the Middle Ages, its tower to 1601, and its nave to the 18th century. The chancel and transept were added in 1866. Along with the Tvrz Hrádek fortress, it has been a protected cultural monument in Prusinovice since 3 May 1958.
The Protestant church has its own historical date: it was solemnly consecrated on 9 November 1856. Inside are valuable gravestones belonging to the Prusinovský family of Víckov. This is a different church from St Catherine’s; the gravestones belong to the Protestant church.
Tvrz Hrádek and Other Monuments
Tvrz Hrádek was built in the 14th century and is associated with a village that no longer exists. The site lies on a promontory above the confluence of two streams. They flow from south to north and join the Kozrálka. The irregularly oval core measures about 30 × 20 metres. It is surrounded by a circular ditch and a broad, lowered rampart. Its origins, location and earthworks offer different perspectives on the same place: its medieval importance, its setting in the landscape and the layout of its fortifications.
Smaller monuments also make their own mark. Boží muka, a wayside shrine from the 18th century, stands prominently in the fields near Prusinovice and serves as an important landmark. Dřevěný kříž is a carving from the late 18th century. Zámčisko, in turn, is a fortress founded by the Lords of Víckov after the mid-15th century. These different dates are not interchangeable historical references: they point to several phases and forms of the local cultural heritage.
Forest, Routes and Events
Dubina is a natural monument featuring a natural oak-hornbeam forest and bird cherry. When planning an outing, it is also worth distinguishing between two types of routes. A hiking trail runs from Kostelec u Holešova via Pacetluky to Líšná and back through Prusinovice. Marked horse-riding trails run around Prusinovice and along Hrádek and Boží muka. Check route conditions before setting out.
The Rohálovské duatlon combines a 10 km run with a 50 km mountain-bike race. The running event takes place in February in Prusinovice under the name Rohálovská desítka; the second part follows in April of the same year as the RAAB FORCE Rohálovská 50ka. For the 2027 edition, the RAAB FORCE Rohálovská 50ka route runs around Prusinovice through Pacetluky, Karlovice, Líšná-nad Jankovicemi, Dobrotice, Holešov and Tučapy. It follows forest and field tracks and has an elevation difference of about 1,000 metres. These route details apply to the 2027 edition; details may change from one edition to another. If you would like to plan your trip around a competition, check the current event dates.
