In Kyselovice, striking landmarks from the village’s history meet events with a variety of themes. These include a Neo-Gothic church, Baroque statues and crosses, as well as nature and sports competitions. Visitors planning a culture-focused stay will find specific details about the buildings and village that reveal its history. The events programme also offers insights into local traditions—with several events’ described programme items applying to specific editions only.
Church, Statues and Crosses
The Church of the Holy Guardian Angels (sv. Andělů Strážných) was built between 1904 and 1906 in the Neo-Gothic style. Its north–south orientation is unusual. The tower at the entrance is 37 metres high. The church’s cultural life also includes the choir of Občanská beseda Kyselovice, which performs in the gallery at Christmas, during church dedication festivals and on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
In the centre of the village green stands a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from the second quarter of the 18th century, opposite the former school. Another Baroque statue, depicting Saint VendelĂn, dates from 1769 and stands at a crossroads of state roads. The two statues can therefore be distinguished by their locations and dates.
The crosses also mark several distinct points in the village’s history. The oldest of the four crosses in Kyselovice is a Baroque cross from 1769. Another, dating from 1894, stands outside the village on the road towards Chropyně. The cemetery cross is made of Carrara marble and probably dates from around 1900. There is also a marble cross from 1906 by the church.
Nature Competitions and Sporting Traditions
Medvědà stezkou is a traditional nature competition for children. The route runs along field tracks and woodland paths, as well as through densely wooded terrain; conditions may vary between editions. Outdoor activities include tying knots, map-based orienteering and building fire sites. The event format can also vary from one edition to another. Participants can enjoy both outdoor activity and practical tasks related to nature and orienteering.
The mixed doubles tennis tournament in Kyselovice has been a fixture since 2005. Both tennis courts were used for the 2025 edition. The traditional Sportovnà odpoledne (Sports Afternoon) was also held at the sports ground in 2025; its main event was a bränball tournament for mixed teams. These examples represent different sporting formats: mixed doubles in one case and team competitions in the other.
On 26 April 2025, Kyselovice hosted the 20th edition of the “O Zlatou proudnici Hané” competition. It was organised by the Kyselovice Volunteer Fire Brigade (Sbor dobrovolných hasičů Kyselovice); the programme included a relay for two-person teams. The 2026 Kyselovská tretra featured short-distance races and an endurance run, as well as throwing competitions with grenades and tennis balls. If you are planning your stay around a particular festival or tournament, check the current event date in advance.
