Roštění brings together the Roman Catholic Church of St. Florian, the Hody celebrations in May and various opportunities to get active. This makes a difference when choosing the purpose of your trip: attending the festivities is tied to the feast day of St. Florian, while architectural history, cycling routes and places to visit offer different focuses. Nearby are Kostelecký Forest and neighbouring Rymice, with its windmill.

Church, architectural history and local history

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Florian is Roštění’s most important landmark. It was consecrated in 1933 and is a Functionalist building with a semicircular apse. Inside is a hand-painted coffered ceiling with 60 colourful panels; the altar houses a reliquary containing the relics of St. Urban and Jan Sarkander. The exterior design and the church interior’s distinctive features are therefore two different aspects of the sacred building.

Poklona adds a different type of religious building: the listed niche chapel is located in the southeast of Roštění. The settlement is one of the area’s old villages and is mentioned as early as 1141 in a document by Jindřich Zdík, Bishop of Olomouc. Roštění is also home to the memorial tree “Lípa u Poklony” (Linden by Poklona).

Hody and local events

The traditional Hody celebrations take place in May on the feast day of St. Florian. At the Hodové slavnosti on 3 May 2026, a procession accompanied by the Sebraňáci brass band made its way from the fire station to the local church dedicated to St. Florian. After the 2026 Hodové slavnosti, a festive lunch and social gathering were held at the local Roštěnka inn. This information relates to the 2026 edition; later programmes and arrangements may differ. If you plan to travel for a future celebration, check the programme for that year.

A 2024 municipal notice describes Stavění as a traditional event in Roštění. It also says that the fruit-brandy tasting at the fire station is held traditionally every year.

Cycling routes, an equestrian route and nearby places to visit

Roštění has good connections to cycling routes. The 75-kilometre equestrian route “Po formanských stezkách křížem krážem Moštěnkou a Hříběcími horami” (Along the carters’ trails, criss-crossing Moštěnka and Hříběcí Mountains), run by MAS Partnerství Moštěnka, also passes through the village. It is described as an established route through 25 municipalities. The 75-kilometre distance refers to this equestrian route, not to the cycling connections.

Nearby, Kostelecký Forest is a popular destination for mushroom pickers. In neighbouring Rymice, there is a windmill worth visiting. These offer different reasons to visit: the forest and mushroom picking here, and a windmill in the neighbouring village there. Roštění also has a multi-purpose sports ground with artificial turf, offering opportunities for physical activity.
