Osíčko offers several distinct reasons to plan a trip: its location in the valley below Kelčský Javorník and a source branch of the Moštěnka give the village a clear geographical setting. Two chapels provide different historical connections; there is also a swimming pool with several water features. Public Easter and Christmas tournaments add seasonal events to these themes. This lets you decide whether you would rather combine your stay with local history, swimming or a tournament.

Valley, Mountain and the Moštěnka

Osíčko lies in a valley below Kelčský Javorník. One of the source branches of the Moštěnka stream flows through the centre. The two geographical features are distinct: Kelčský Javorník defines the valley setting, while the source branch runs directly through the village centre. If the geography of a destination is also a factor in your choice, you can consider these features alongside the chapels and swimming pool as a separate aspect of your stay.

Local History and Chapels

The first historically documented mention of Osíčko dates from 1360, when the name “Nový Osek” was used. The Chapel of Panny Marie pomocnice dates from the 18th century and is a protected monument. The Chapel of Navštívení Panny Marie houses an altar erected in 1925, which also serves as a memorial to those who fell in the First World War.

These dates have different significance: 1360 marks the first documented mention of the village, the 18th century dates the chapel, and the 1925 altar connects a place of worship with remembrance of the war. If you are interested in Osíčko’s history, the village name, listed monument and memorial thus offer specific, distinct points of interest.

Swimming Pool with Water Features

The swimming pool measures 33 × 18 metres and is 0.75 to 1.6 metres deep. Its facilities include a slide, a water column, a bubble bath, a massage lounger, a wide water spout and a mushroom-shaped water sprinkler. The dimensions and depth range describe the pool; the various water features add a distinct focus to the swimming area alongside the historic sites. If swimming is important to your stay, you can factor these specific facilities into your choice of destination.

Tournaments and the Hody Custom

A Christmas tournament and an Easter tournament are held in Osíčko every year; both are open to the public. They take place in different seasons. If you plan to travel for one of the tournaments, check the specific dates for that year’s event before making plans.

The Hody custom includes a friendly match between the men of Osíčko and Příkazy. This is a different kind of event from the two annual tournaments: the match is at the heart of the custom, while Christmas and Easter define the timing of the tournaments. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth distinguishing between a stay around a public tournament and one centred on the Hody custom.

Road Location and Transport History

Osíčko is on Road II/150 between Bystřice pod Hostýnem and Valašské Meziříčí. Příkazy–Osíčko railway station adds a historical transport connection to the village’s history: it was built between 1886 and 1888, and regular trains began running from there in 1887. If you are planning to travel by train today, check the relevant service in advance.
