Zašovice combines nature-focused attractions, a green-marked riding route and village history. When planning your trip, you can first decide which aspect interests you most: the habitat at Salátův kopec, the themes of a forest nature trail, horse riding or the village’s historical connections.

Landscape and Forest Nature Trail

Salátův kopec lies south of Zašovice within the municipality’s cadastral area. It reaches 661 metres above sea level, and the site covers eight hectares. Its predominant habitat is submontane Nardus grassland without juniper. The hill is therefore defined not only by its elevation but also by a specific type of habitat. Visitors interested in the natural side of the destination will find a clearly identified connection to the landscape and vegetation here.

The “Lesní naučná stezka Chaloupky” nature trail covers ecology, nature conservation, botany, ornithology and forest management. The “Urbánkův palouk” natural monument is one of the trail’s stops. The range of subjects is particularly noteworthy: botany and ornithology complement ecological and forestry topics. A map of the nature trail also shows Zašovice and Nová Brtnice.

Riding Route and Village History

Another activity is the green-marked riding route. It runs through the built-up area of Zašovice and the surrounding area. There are also two riding stations in Zašovice along this route. Check the local trail markers before setting out. This makes it possible to understand the riding route by its course and markings, while the nature trail focuses on nature and forest topics.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, dating from the 19th century, stands in the village square. Another historical trace is the Zašovice coin hoard, discovered in the 18th century. It includes at least four solidi attributed to Zeno (two), Anastasius I and Justinian I. The date of the chapel and the story of the coin hoard’s discovery offer two different starting points for a cultural and historical perspective on the village.

Agriculture and Educational Programmes

Farma Zašovice is a fully operational agricultural business specialising in the production of dairy products. For the 2026/2027 school year, it offers educational programmes that include a farm tour and hands-on activities. These include caring for, feeding and milking animals. Bookings have been open since 24 August 2026. If you are considering including this programme in your plans, check availability in advance.

The Chaloupky Centre near Nová Brtnice

The Chaloupky Centre near Nová Brtnice offers week-long programmes as well as weekend and holiday events. The “Zašovice, Nová Brtnice” bus stop is 150 metres from the centre. If you plan to use the stop to reach the centre, check the timetable before setting off. This gives you both a specific reference point for the stop and its distance from the centre.
