In Bohuňov, dated buildings meet marked trails and natural attractions that can be explored in the village or on an outing. White storks nest here regularly; at the same time, the boundary of Svratecká hornatina Nature Park runs through the cadastral area. This offers several starting points for planning a trip: local history, walks and leisure by the water.

Landscape and water around Bohuňov

Domanínský rybník lies south of Bohuňov. The pond is about 1.5 km from the village via field paths and is used for swimming and fishing. This is a separate focus for an outing alongside the village’s cultural attractions. The white storks that regularly nest here add another natural feature to Bohuňov, while the nature park boundary marks the area’s wider landscape connection.

Chapel and historic buildings

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was created in 1929 by converting a bell tower and was consecrated on 5 July of that same year. Opposite it stands a stone cross dated 1859. On a field path behind Bohuňov is the wayside shrine known as Boží muka; the inscription on its stone plaque gives the year 1739.

Farmstead No. 17 is also one of the village’s notable historic buildings. The three-sided, masonry farmstead is a surviving example of Horácko folk architecture; an inscription dated 1857 is set in its gable. The dates make the different historical references easy to distinguish: 1739 appears on the wayside shrine’s stone plaque, 1857 on the farmstead’s gable, 1859 is associated with the stone cross, and 1929 marks the chapel’s conversion and consecration. Those interested in local architecture will find several distinct building types and historical points of reference, without conflating them into a single building.

Hiking trails, outings and cross-country skiing

A yellow hiking trail marker runs approximately north to south through Bohuňov. A green marker leads from the Pletenice forest along a field path following the cadastral boundary between Janovičky and Písečné.

The marked circular route “K Lučnímu baru u dráčka Poplety” leads from Hotel Skalský dvůr through Bohuňov to Mount Pletenice near Lísek. Below the mountain is a self-service meadow bar at Dráček Poplety. The outing is 7 km long, takes about two hours and is suitable for preschool children. This is a specific route with a stated distance and approximate duration. Another option for cyclists is the 137 km “EUROVELO 4 + PRAGUE ROUTE”: it passes through Bohuňov before reaching Bystřice.

In winter, a groomed cross-country ski route depends on good snow conditions. If there is enough snow, it can be used from neighbouring Domanín via Skalský rybník and past Hotel Skalský dvůr to Zuberský rybník; from there, it continues to the central part of the Žďárské vrchy. This condition sets the cross-country skiing option apart from the hiking and cycling routes described above.

Getting here and choosing a holiday apartment

If travelling by train, you can use Rozsochy station, 3.5 km from Bohuňov. Bohuňov also has a bus service, including a direct route to Brno. Check the timetables for your travel date if you plan to use one of these connections. When searching for a holiday apartment, consider whether the buildings and local history, the marked trails or an outing to the pond are the main focus of your stay. The conditional cross-country skiing option may also be relevant to your travel plans when snow conditions are suitable.
