Račiněves can be explored through a range of themes: the Church of Saint Havel shapes the townscape at the centre, the archaeological site of Kavčina lies east of the town, and Pecharův ranč is associated with horses and other animals. This offers a perspective ranging from medieval religious architecture and an archaeological landscape to facilities centred on horses. Which of these aspects matters for your stay can help guide your choice of activities and accommodation.
The Church of Saint Havel in the town centre
The complex of the Church of Saint Havel is a prominent urban feature in the centre of Račiněves. The church is a valuable medieval religious building dating from the late 15th century. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958 and is registered under ÚSKP number 28108/5-2242. When placing it in time, its construction history and monument protection should be distinguished: the late 15th century refers to the religious building, while 3 May 1958 marks the start of its protection. Those interested in historic churches will find a clearly located point of interest in the town centre. The central location and monument protection describe two different aspects: the complex's role in the townscape and its legal status as a protected monument.
Kavčina: an archaeological site east of the town
About one kilometre east of Račiněves, Kavčina is situated on a gentle rise near sand pits and adjoining fields. The site comprises a cult area, a settlement and a burial ground. These features make Kavčina an archaeological site with several distinct areas, rather than a single structure. Compared with the church in the town centre, the site is a different historical point of interest both in its location and in its nature: here, the landscape and its archaeological features take centre stage. The distance is approximate; for orientation, its location east of Račiněves is the key detail.
Pecharův ranč: horses, animals and a place to stay
Horses and other animals are at the heart of Pecharův ranč. Currently, 16 horses graze or live in paddocks with shelters. The animals also include Dutch goats, four Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Göttingen pigs, rabbits and other animals; the animal population may change over time. The ranch is part of the “koňské stezky” and has a rescue centre as well as facilities for riders and their horses. Confirm the availability of local services before your arrival.
Horses can be accommodated in paddocks or stalls. Riders can stay overnight in a hut located directly in the horse paddock. If you plan to use this option, confirm the availability of accommodation and a stall in advance. The ranch also has a covered log-cabin restaurant with a fireplace. Facilities are also available for horse events, children's programmes, school trips and children's birthday parties. Before you arrive, enquire whether suitable events or programmes are taking place, and when.
Town centre, dining and events
Račiněves's town centre, known as Ohrada, includes a small park with benches and some play equipment for children. Public amenities may change. Račiněves also has a community restaurant offering meals; check its opening status and meal availability before visiting.
Events are another local feature: the Myslivecká společnost Račiněves organises a traditional hunters' ball and a shooting competition. Specific event dates are important for planning your trip, so enquire in advance whether the events are taking place and when.
Getting there by bus or via the D8
The D8 motorway junction is about two kilometres from Račiněves. Several bus routes run through the town. These include Roudnice n. L.–Libochovice, Louny–Roudnice n. L.–Mělník–Mladá Boleslav, and Roudnice–Velvary. The distance to the motorway junction and the bus connections listed offer different points of reference for your journey. Check the bus timetables before travelling so that you can plan your trip around your preferred date.
