Růžová lies in the immediate vicinity of Bohemian Switzerland National Park. Local options include walks and trips to viewpoints and deep gorges in the surrounding area. When planning, it is worth considering the different themes and lengths of the routes: they range from circular walks through protected landscapes to nature trails focusing on topics such as fauna, local history and nature.

Nature Trails and Circular Routes

The 9.9-kilometre “Naučná stezka Růžová” circular route starts in Růžová and passes through Bohemian Switzerland National Park and the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. At its ten stops, visitors can discover natural attractions and learn about the history of the landscape. The route therefore combines two topics that are treated separately on shorter nature trails elsewhere.

The approximately 500-metre-long “Petřínská stezka” trail focuses primarily on local fauna and features interactive learning stations. A Dutch-type windmill stands on the summit of Petřín. An approximately 1.4-kilometre section of the “Pastevní” nature trail passes historic structures associated with the activities of local residents, a Madonna, a chapel and a bell tower. The stated length refers to the section, not the entire nature trail.

The approximately 1.6-kilometre “Ovocná stezka” trail connects Růžová with the settlement of Růžová–Nový Svět. Old varieties of pear and apple trees, as well as berry bushes, line the route; three small ponds close to the trail increase biodiversity. The route also serves as a cycle path. The approximately 2.1-kilometre “Kovářova stezka” circular walk around Kovářův kopec offers a different perspective on the landscape, with insights into the revitalisation of the Janovský potok stream and a dry valley flood-retention basin. Facilities include benches, seating and a cycle route signpost.

Nature and Views

Růžovský vrch is a natural attraction in the vicinity of Růžová. It rises to 619 metres and is a nature reserve with original deciduous forest and heat-loving flora. The Růženka lookout tower offers a different highlight: it is 6.5 metres tall and provides panoramic views. This means travel plans can include both routes focused on nature and landscapes and a dedicated viewpoint.

Church and Local History

The Baroque Church of St. Peter and Paul is a landmark of Růžová. It was built on the site of an older church between 1710 and 1712. After the fire on 1 August 1988, the church was restored between 1996 and 2000, including its staircase and perimeter walls. It was ceremonially reconsecrated on 7 October 2000. The construction period and later restoration mark different chapters in its history.

Rosehill and the Biotope

Rosehill is an open-air museum in the municipality of Růžová, in the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. It is open seasonally. Hands-on activities include archery, spear and tomahawk throwing, making simple Native American objects, drumming and starting fires by striking sparks. Native American games for children are also offered. Visitors looking to combine culture with practical activities will find a different focus here than on the nature trails.

The Růžová biotope includes a body of water, visitor facilities and options for refreshments and overnight stays. As infrastructure details may change, check the current options before your visit.
