The municipality of Dobkovice lies within the České Středohoří Protected Landscape Area and in the Ústí part of this landscape region. The village can be understood through its regional landscape setting, its historical development and the named hiking trail to the hamlet of Skrytín. This brings landscape and local history together, while the route offers a specific starting point for an excursion.

Landscape in the České Středohoří

The municipality covers 575 hectares; forests account for about 37.3 percent of the area. The municipality of Dobkovice lies within the České Středohoří Protected Landscape Area and in the Ústí part of this landscape region. Forests cover about 37.3 percent of the municipality’s 575 hectares; the forest share refers to the municipality, not to the protected landscape area. The municipality’s regional affiliation with the protected area and its local forest cover therefore relate to different geographical scales. If you are interested in nature and landscape, you can consider both perspectives on Dobkovice.

Local history across several periods

The first documented mentions of Dobkovice date back to 1383. The hamlet of Skrytín, also known as Reichberg, is likewise documented for that year. The date applies to two historical place references; it does not date the later description of the residence in Skrytín. A mill was part of the historic settlement of Dobkovice. In the 1870s, a paint factory and the Stolle company’s shipyard were operating in Dobkovice; the M. Korálek button factory was established in 1893. The paint factory and shipyard therefore share a period of operation, while 1893 marks the founding year of the button factory. This distinguishes the operating period from the founding date as separate historical details.

A historical account describes Skrytín at the beginning of the 20th century as a magnificent residence with a swimming pool and gardens. This later account comes well after the hamlet’s documented mention in 1383. The restoration status may change; check the current status before visiting.

Hiking trail and getting there

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Dobkovice railway station to Skrytín. The two endpoints provide a clear direction for the hike; check trail conditions before setting out. There are several rest stops in Skrytín, and their facilities may change. The trail thus leads to a historically documented hamlet whose local history spans several periods.

All platforms at Dobkovice railway station are accessible without barriers. For planning purposes, consider the station and the trail separately: the accessibility information applies to the platforms; check the hiking trail conditions before setting out. The accessibility information therefore relates to the station area and does not automatically apply to the entire hiking route.
