Křimov combines hiking and cycling routes with a distinctive history of church architecture; access to the reservoir is also subject to clear restrictions. If you are looking for a hotel in Křimov, you can plan your stay around whether trails, architecture or seasonal railway journeys are your main focus.

Hiking and cycling: different route layouts

The yellow-marked hiking trail runs along the railway line and forms a circular route between Křimov, the Křimov Reservoir and Bezruč Valley. Cycling Route 3008 starts at Křimov stop and leads to the former Third Mill in Bezruč Valley. Another cycling tour runs from Chomutov through Bezruč Valley, the Křimov Reservoir, Nová Ves and Výsluní, around the reservoir.

The routes differ in their layout: the yellow hiking trail is described as a loop connecting three reference points, Cycling Route 3008 leads to a former mill site, and the cycling trip from Chomutov covers several named places. When choosing, you can therefore first consider the starting point and route, and whether you prefer a loop or a specific destination.

The reservoir: purpose and access

The Křimov Reservoir primarily serves as a drinking-water reservoir for Chomutov. The water and dam are not freely accessible; public access to Protection Zone I is prohibited. The route and access are therefore separate issues: a tour around the reservoir does not override these restrictions. Take the access restrictions into account when planning your route.

Seasonal historic train rides

LOKO-MOTIV organizes public special services, including traditional historic railcar rides. They operate during the summer holidays from Klášterec nad Ohří via Chomutov and Křimov to Vejprty and back. Křimov is therefore on the stated route of these seasonal excursion services. If you are planning a journey, check the timetable before you travel.

St. Anne and other examples of architectural history

The Church of St. Anne was built in the mid-14th century and was originally Gothic. It was extensively remodeled around 1530. The west portal, the vault and the windows in the presbytery date from this period. The presbytery also has a defensive upper storey with slit windows in its eastern and southern walls. The church’s varied architectural features make its history a specific point of interest for those interested in architecture and historic heritage.

South of the church stands a single-storey Baroque rectory dating from the last third of the 18th century. Another historic feature is the reconciliation cross beside the road near house number 47, one of the protected monuments in Křimov. The rectory and the cross add two distinct forms of local cultural heritage to the church building.

Nature monument and castle ruins in the wider area

In the wider region around Křimov, the small Krásná Lípa Nature Monument lies near the eastern edge of the village of Krásná Lípa. It protects the endangered pasqueflower (Pulsatilla patens) and is considered the only site of this species at the foot of the Ore Mountains.

The remains of the abandoned Hausberk Castle lie on Zámecký vrch, about one kilometre north of Krásná Lípa. This destination is also part of the wider region around Křimov. While the nature monument lies near the eastern edge of Krásná Lípa, the castle ruins are located north of the village.
