Tasov brings together three perspectives: its location in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area, cultural history and routes that pass through the village. Flower-rich meadows offer a direct connection with nature; a chapel, artists’ biographies and a traditional event provide a cultural perspective. There are also several cycling routes, a blue-marked hiking trail and the Strážnická Wine Trail. This means you can choose between nature observation, local history and different types of routes, according to your interests.
Nature in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area
Tasov lies in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. Rare animals and plants, including orchids, can be observed in the flower-rich meadows around Tasov. This connection with nature encompasses both plant and wildlife observation. Tasovský rybníček offers a different view of the surrounding area: anglers use it for fishing, and it is fed by the Velička stream. If you are weighing up nature-related activities for your stay, the meadows and their biodiversity and the pond used by anglers offer different focuses.
Cultural traces in Tasov
The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas was built in 1928. Two artists are also associated with Tasov: the Slovakian painter Antoš Frolka lived and worked in the village, while folk artist Rozka Falešníková was born here. Their connections differ—life and work in one case, birth in the other. Together with the chapel’s year of construction, these biographical and architectural traces offer insight into the village’s cultural history.
The Václavské hody is a traditional, recurring cultural event in Tasov. The Topolový hájek complex is also nearby, and its grounds host various cultural and social events. The cultural offering therefore extends beyond the chapel and the artists’ biographies associated with Tasov to include an event venue in the surrounding area.
Historic traces
Tasovský mlýn was mentioned in the 13th century as property of the Lords of Žerotín. Another historic trace is the route through Tasov, known on old maps as “Porta Tasi.” The references take different forms: a century is specified for the mill, while “Porta Tasi” is preserved as a historic name on maps. A historic reference and an earlier route name can thus be considered as two distinct aspects of local history.
Hiking and cycling routes
Several cycling routes pass through Tasov. A blue-marked hiking trail also runs from Veselí nad Moravou to Velká nad Veličkou. The Strážnická Wine Trail runs from Ostrožská Lhota via Louka, Lipov and Tasov to Strážnice. The routes therefore differ in type: several cycling routes through the village, a marked hiking connection with named endpoints, and a wine trail with a series of explicitly named places. Check the local trail markings in advance for the Strážnická Wine Trail.
For regional orientation, Tasov lies on the route between Strážnice and Velká nad Veličkou. Together with the named hiking and cycling routes, this offers various ways to explore Tasov according to your preferred focus: nature observation, cultural history or a route that passes through the village.
