Lelekovice can be explored through its landscape, nature, and architectural history. You can plan your visit around different interests: forest trails in the BabĂ lom area, cycling routes with their own distinct features, and historic sights such as the Church of St. Philip and James or Lelekovice Castle. This lets you tailor your stay to whether you prefer hiking, cycling, or learning about the history of the village.

BabĂ lom: Rock Formations, Forest, and Views

The BabĂ lom Nature Reserve also includes part of the cadastral area of Lelekovice. It protects a geologically and geomorphologically unique rock formation, as well as near-natural to natural forest communities. The area is also significant for ornithology. BabĂ lom therefore offers more than forest trails: it is also a distinctive landscape whose natural features are protected.

The BabĂ lom observation tower is open to the public and has been visited since May 15, 1961. If you want to include nature and views in your plans, it is a specific point of interest alongside the area's trails.

Hiking and Cycling Routes with Different Highlights

The Stezka zdraví (Health Trail) leads from Mokrá Hora through forest trails in the Ponávka Valley to Lelekovice. The route is 9.3 kilometers long and runs mostly through the forest or along its edge; the gradients are gentle. It is suitable for all age groups and has its own appeal in every season. Its length and gradient profile provide two different points of reference when choosing a route.

In Lelekovice, the Pilgrimage Route project also includes a nature trail with views of the village and the Church of St. Philip and James. It complements routes focused on forests and landscapes with views of the village and its distinctive church building.

If you prefer cycling, you can choose between two routes with different features. The “Po stopách zaniklých železnic” (In the Footsteps of Defunct Railways) cycle route passes through Lelekovice and mostly follows the former tracks of discontinued or rerouted railway lines. On the Petra Bezruče Beer Trail, by contrast, the proportion of forest and the surface are key points of reference: it runs mostly through forests on asphalt and gravel paths, largely away from road traffic. One route focuses on former railway lines, while the other is defined by its surface and forest setting.

Church, Pilgrimage Route, and Lelekovice Castle

The Church of St. Philip and James is the oldest surviving building in Lelekovice; its origins date back approximately to the mid-13th century. Its core is Romanesque-Gothic, and the church is included in the list of state-protected immovable monuments. The building thus brings together two aspects: its long history and its architectural classification.

The Sedmiradostná pilgrimage route runs between the Church of St. Philip and James in Lelekovice and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Vranov. Seven chapels line the route, symbolizing the joys of the Virgin Mary. The route thus connects two churches through a religious theme that is also reflected in the chapels along the way.

The medieval Lelekovice Castle is an abandoned castle ruin that has been systematically studied. It is first mentioned in written records in the mid-14th century; by the beginning of the 15th century, it is already described as abandoned. Low walls on the castle grounds illustrate the location and layout of the complex. An information board stands at the edge of the site; models of the castle can be found in the village square and at the municipal office.

During a stay in Lelekovice, you can choose to focus on nature trails, cycling routes, or history. The routes described differ in length, surface, and theme; the historic sights range from the surviving church to the abandoned castle complex.
