Rojetín can be discovered through its landscape and local history. The municipality lies in a small valley hollow with a stream; nearby, the Rojetínský hadec protected area provides a specific botanical connection. Other points of interest include a pilgrimage to the Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, an art gallery and traces of the past. You can plan your stay around different interests: natural history, culture or local history.

Valley Hollow, Elevation and Protected Area

Rojetín lies 476 metres above sea level. At the same time, it is situated in a small valley hollow through which a stream flows. The elevation describes its location, while the valley hollow and stream are a specific landscape feature. Nearby, Rojetínský hadec adds another, distinct natural point of interest.

Rojetínský hadec is a 2.2277-hectare European Site of Community Importance. It protects a site where the false spleenwort grows and is considered the most significant site for the occurrence of this species in South Moravia. The area also features relict pine forests. This defines the protected-area connection specifically: it combines a named conservation purpose with a distinctive habitat, setting it apart from the valley hollow, which describes the landscape of the town itself.

Chapel, Pilgrimage and Local History

Rojetín is the birthplace of composer Rudolf Kvasnica, who was born there on 9 September 1895. Another historical period began in 1617, when Rojetín became part of the Osové estate. These two facts describe different aspects of the past: a composer’s life and the town’s historical affiliation with an estate.

Rojetín’s coat of arms commemorates the local Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. A pilgrimage takes place at the chapel on the first Saturday in September. If you would like to plan your trip around this recurring event, check the date for the relevant year before travelling. This makes the pilgrimage a specific calendar event to consider when planning your trip.

Historical Traces and Art

In the former estate forest “Na Stráni,” on the right bank of the Libochůvka, a presumed former fortified site known locally as “Na Hrádku” has been preserved. Its visible features include ramparts, a ditch and low wall remains. The interpretation of the site as a fortification remains tentative, even though these traces in the terrain are visible. If you plan to visit, check access in advance.

Martina Fialová runs ART GALERIE MF in Rojetín, which she manages herself. It is also advisable to check access in advance if you plan to visit the gallery. The gallery and the presumed fortified site thus offer two different cultural points of interest: a contemporary art venue and a historical trace whose former function has not been established with certainty.

Plan a Stay That Suits You

When looking for a holiday rental for a stay in Rojetín, you can start by deciding which interests you would like your stay to focus on. The protected area’s main appeal is botanical and scenic; the chapel, Kvasnica’s birthplace and “Na Hrádku” offer different points of connection with cultural history. The September pilgrimage is also a recurring calendar event, for which the date varies from year to year.
