Brumov lies in the widened valley floor of the Besének stream. The town offers several distinct highlights to consider when planning a trip: the Vršky u Brumova plant area, two ponds suitable for swimming, cycling connections, and historical details in the town center and on its outskirts.

The Besének and Vršky u Brumova

The Vršky u Brumova area covers 5.64 hectares. Numerous heat-loving plants grow on a limestone phyllite substrate; they are exceptional in the region and endangered. The landscape here therefore has a specific botanical significance: alongside its location in the Besének valley floor, the characteristics of the plant area shape the town’s natural heritage. The plants’ visibility varies by season, so the time of year is worth considering when planning your trip, especially if you are particularly interested in them. Vršky u Brumova and the Besének offer different points of reference: the location describes Brumov’s position in the valley, while the plant area, with its substrate and flora, is a distinct natural feature.

Ponds and Events

Brumov has two ponds suitable for swimming. Swimming conditions and access may vary; check both before planning a day at the ponds. This is a different planning consideration from the plant area: for swimming, conditions on the intended day of your visit also matter. A visitor website updated in 2021 mentions an annual Neckyáda at the larger pond. The same website lists Brumov’s annual pilgrimage as taking place on the second Sunday in August. If you plan to attend either event, check the latest dates in advance.

Cycling Connections and Loop Route

A cycling route reaches Brumov from Osiky via the Cimrmanova Trail. At Brumov, it connects to Cycle Route 5143 towards Černovice. This gives you two directions to consider when planning a route: the route from Osiky to Brumov and the connection from Brumov towards Černovice.

Another loop route connects Nedvědice, Skorotice, Hrádky, Káčiny, Černovice, Brumov, and Osiky. It then runs via Sýkořský les and Louky back to Skorotice and Nedvědice. This loop places Brumov within a sequence of towns and landscape features; the cycling route, by contrast, identifies specific connections via Osiky and towards Černovice. If you want to include Brumov in a route plan, these different details can help you choose the type of route that suits you.

Chapel and Local History

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands in the center of Brumov. Its predecessor, built in 1912, was demolished to make way for a road widening; a new chapel was built in 1923. The dates therefore refer to two distinct stages in the chapel’s history: 1912 marks the predecessor, and 1923 the new building. A black marble cross dating from 1950 stands on the lower outskirts of the town. The chapel in the center and the cross on the lower outskirts mark different locations in the town’s history.

Choosing Brumov as a Destination

When choosing a destination, you could first consider whether the landscape, cycling connections, or local history appeals to you most. Swimming and the events mentioned here add considerations relevant to a specific day of your visit: conditions and access at the ponds may vary, and you should check current event dates in advance.
