Set among gentle hills, ponds and small cultural landmarks, Bukovice offers several ways to enjoy a discovery break. Its elevated location and views across the Tišnov Valley shape the landscape; trails lead to local highlights such as St. Anne’s Chapel and the Pod Myšníkem pond. There is also a monument dedicated to the forest and a local Easter custom. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for a trip to Bukovice, you can consider the village in terms of its landscape, walks and history.

Elevated Location, Valley Views and Ponds

Bukovice lies in the Hornosvratecká vrchovina at an elevation of 450 to 480 metres above sea level, on the northeastern side of a gentle hill. From Bukovice, you can look out across the Tišnov Valley. The Pod Myšníkem pond was created in 1998 by Ing. Haška and is considered a popular local destination for walks. The views across the Tišnov Valley and the ponds in the lower part of the village offer different perspectives: the former draw attention to the landscape, while the latter provide specific destinations for walks.

Walking and Cycling

Two ponds in the lower part of Bukovice are among the destinations along the trails. One route passes St. Anne’s Chapel and then follows an asphalt road to the Pod Myšníkem pond. At the edge of the meadows, the forest monument “Památník lesa” offers a place to rest; it is dedicated to the local forests. At a trail junction, there is a stone table and a place to sit, installed to mark Bukovice’s 750th anniversary. A description from 2021 mentions a peaceful walk through the winter or spring landscape around Bukovice and Rohozec. An informal walking route described in 2021 runs from Rohozec along the Lubě and through a wooded valley to Bukovice. The “Železné výhledy” cycling route is rated as moderate. The official route information was last updated in 2015; check current trail conditions before setting out.

Chapel, Cross Stone and Easter Custom

St. Anne’s Chapel was restored in 2005, including its shingle roof and an automatic bell-ringing system. Near the chapel is a cross stone bearing a still-visible relief of a Calvary cross. The Easter custom “Velikonoční mrskut” is also part of village life: groups of boys and men visit the village homes; visitors occasionally join them. The 17th children’s fishing competition “Bukovický kapr” was held at the Pod Myšníkem pond on 16 September 2023.

Choose Your Stay Based on Your Interests

When looking for a holiday apartment, you can assess Bukovice according to the focus of your trip: walks and ponds shape its appeal as a landscape destination, while the chapel, cross stone and Easter custom represent its cultural side. This makes it easier to consider the village in terms of the themes you would like to focus on during your stay.
