Danzinger’s workshop, the Olešnické muzeum strašidel, and the Museum of Historic Vehicles offer different ways to explore Olešnice Na Moravě: blueprint, legends, and the history of technology. To help you choose what to discover, consider the distinction: the workshop is devoted to a craft passed down through generations, the Museum of Legends is housed in the cellar of a former icehouse, and the vehicle museum displays a collection of historic cars and motorcycles. This lets you plan your stay around the topics that interest you most.

Museum of Legends in the Former Icehouse

The cellar of the former icehouse was repurposed as the Museum of Legends of Olešnice in 2003. The icehouse itself was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The site thus connects the building’s former use with its later use as a museum; both periods are part of its history, but they tell different stories.

The Olešnické muzeum strašidel is on náměstí Míru, below the church and opposite the town hall. These landmarks give you a specific point of reference in the town. The church, “Kostel sv. Mikuláše,” was built in 1725. For your specific plans, check access to the museum separately.

Blueprint at Danzinger’s Workshop

Danzinger’s workshop has been in operation since 1816. It still uses patterns and recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation for more than 160 years. The history of the business and the passing on of craft knowledge go hand in hand: blueprint here is defined not only by a date, but also by the continued use of inherited patterns and recipes.

The workshop offers excursions where visitors can learn about the blueprint process. Visitors can also make their own pattern there. The two options have different focuses: the excursion centers on learning about the production process, while making your own pattern offers a hands-on experience of blueprint. Arrange the date and specific details directly with the workshop.

Vehicle History and Different Traces of Time

The Museum of Historic Vehicles displays historic automobiles and motorcycles made in Czechoslovakia. Petr Hamerský collects these vehicles in his workshop and restores them to their original condition. The collection offers a different way to explore local history than the blueprint workshop: here the focus is on vehicles and their restoration, while there it is on a craft with patterns and recipes passed down over time.

The Museum of Legends and the workshop also tell history in different ways. At the museum, the historical context is shaped by the cellar of a former icehouse and its new use in 2003. The workshop has been in operation since 1816 and continues to use traditional tools and materials. Together with the church, built in 1725, these places represent different points in time without telling the same kind of history. When choosing what to visit, you can therefore decide whether you are interested in the history of a building, blueprint, or historic vehicles.
