A horseshoe-shaped village, historic crosses, and a natural monument give Lhota U Lysic its own distinct character. The village combines a clearly legible settlement history with a location in Lysicko Nature Park and several hiking and cycling routes. Two questions are especially useful when planning your trip: Which traces of the village’s history would you like to explore more closely, and which route suits your interest in the landscape or in being active?

A village whose shape tells a story

Lhota U Lysic was first mentioned in written records in 1351. The village originated as a circular village at the end of the road from Lysice. Its wooden log houses were gradually arranged in a horseshoe shape—a form characteristic of this type of village. History is therefore visible here not only in individual buildings with known dates, but also in the village’s inherited layout.

The village square is the medieval and modern-era center of Lhota U Lysic. A small bell tower stands on the former village square and is part of the protected local cultural heritage. If you are interested in historic settlement patterns, these details complement one another: the square reflects the development of the village center, while the arrangement of the log houses describes the shape of the circular village.

Religious monuments also bear specific dates. A marble cross was erected beside the chapel in 1938; it was restored in 1996 and 2011. A wayside cross at an intersection bears an inscription dated 1851. The cross at U Jonášových was erected in 1874 and most recently restored in 2011. The pilgrimage feast in honor of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated on August 15. If you would like to plan your trip around this feast, check the specific program in advance.

Landscape and the Žižkův stůl natural monument

Lhota U Lysic lies on the left bank of the Lysický potok stream and at the eastern foot of Na Stráži mountain. The village is in Lysicko Nature Park and is surrounded by forests. This setting adds a distinct landscape dimension to the historic village center: the surroundings, as well as the settlement’s layout, are part of the destination’s character.

The Žižkův stůl natural monument lies southwest of Lhota U Lysic, within the cadastral area. It covers 23 hectares of natural deciduous forest with lush herbaceous undergrowth. The site is also significant in terms of geomorphology and is an example of periglacial landforms—landforms associated with cold, ice-age conditions. The natural monument was first designated on April 2, 1997. Žižkův stůl thus combines a protected forest area with a distinctive geological classification.

Distinguishing between hiking and cycling routes

Two different locations are given for hiking routes. A red-marked hiking route runs near the southwestern cadastral boundary. A blue-marked long-distance hiking route follows the western edge of the cadastral area. Lhota U Lysic connects to this long-distance route via road III/3763 or a forest track. The information thus distinguishes a route near the southwestern boundary from a connection to the route along the western edge. Check the trail markings and route locally before setting out.

The cycling routes can also be distinguished by their course. Cycle route 5145 runs through Petrov, Rozseč, and Hluboké u Kunštátu, then passes through Lhota U Lysic and continues to Lysice. Cycle route 5144 follows the western edge of the cadastral area, while cycle route 5143 runs along its southern boundary. This makes it possible to distinguish the route through the village from the two routes along its edges. If you are planning a cycling trip, check the current signage before setting off. Taken together, the routes described offer various ways to explore the village and its landscape, without treating their courses as interchangeable.
