Two circular trails reveal different sides of Veselí nad Lužnicí: “Veselské pískovny” is an easy route by the lakes, while “Křížem krážem po Veselí” runs mainly through the town centre and nearby area. The town also has a church visible from afar, exhibitions listed for 2026 at Weisův dům, and a cycle route through the town. When planning your trip, you can choose between nature, the townscape and culture as distinct areas of focus.
Circular Trails Between Gravel Pits and the Town
The “Veselské pískovny” circular trail is seven kilometres long and classified as an easy walking route. Fourteen information panels stand on the banks of two lakes. They describe the history of the landscape and surrounding communities, with a particular focus on nature in the gravel-pit area. If you’d like to explore landscape and nature themes while walking, you’ll find them right along the route.
The short “Křížem krážem po Veselí” circular trail is 4.5 kilometres long and runs mainly through the town centre and nearby area. It is accessible and suitable for families with children and pushchairs. This gives you a clear distinction when choosing between the routes: the lakeside trail is an easy walk focused on nature and landscape, while the shorter town trail combines accessibility and suitability for pushchairs with a mainly urban route.
Church and Museums
The “Povýšení svatého kříže” Church is visible from afar and looks like a castle in the distance. Its castle-like appearance adds a distinctive architectural feature to the townscape.
For the 2026 season, the exhibition programme at Weisův dům includes “ŽIVOT VE MĚSTĚ” and “KAREL WEIS A BLATA”, as well as a model railway display. These are specific exhibition themes, along with another distinctive feature to include in a cultural stay.
The Blatské muzeum v Soběslavi a Veselí nad Lužnicí offers permanent and temporary exhibitions, lectures, excursions and other events at several locations: in Soběslav, Veselí nad Lužnicí and elsewhere in the Tábor region. The programme is regional in scope and extends beyond Veselí.
Exploring Veselí by Bike
The 23-kilometre section of the “CC Lužnice” cycle route runs from Vlkovský rybník to Klenovice and passes through Veselí nad Lužnicí. The town is therefore located on a cycling section with named endpoints. “Stará radnice Veselí nad Lužnicí” is also listed as a point of interest on the local cycle route. Compared with the circular trails, CC Lužnice is the longer cycling section; the two circular trails focus respectively on the lake landscape and the town.
First decide what kind of discoveries you’d like to shape your stay, then look for suitable accommodation in town.
