A brewery tour with tasting is a specific activity in Obora: RodinnĂ˝ pivovar Obora offers tours of the brewery and hop garden. Arrange the date with the brewery before you arrive, as tour schedules may vary. The cycling route, ecological planning areas and a nearby collection of agricultural objects are also part of the local surroundings.
Brewery and tours
Rodinný pivovar Obora has been operating since 2015 on the Novák family farm in Obora, near Želeč by Tábor. It brews beer mainly with its own hops and malt. The seating area is decorated with paintings by local artist František Boháč and other artists. The brewery is accessible by car, and parking is available in front. Check the parking options when you arrive.
Cycling route through Obora
A municipal plan from March 2008 lists cycling route No. 12 as an existing route. It runs from the south through Obora and Maršov to Lom, where it joins cycling route No. 11, and forms part of the Greenway RoĹľmberskĂ©ho dÄ›dictvĂ. As the planning information dates from 2008, check the current signage and route conditions before setting off. The two references serve different purposes: the Greenway indicates the route’s affiliation, while the connection to cycling route No. 11 describes the specific link in Lom.
Landscape planning in figures
Local landscape-planning terms refer to two areas and two corridors. The functional local biocentre LBC 1003 “OborskĂ˝ potok” covers 3.17 ha in Obora u Maršova. The functional local biocentre LBC 1005 “Pod Lesem” covers 2.28 ha and continues into the cadastral area of Ĺ˝eleÄŤ u Tábora. Biocorridor LBK 15-x is 420 m long, runs through ÄŚenkov u Malšic and Obora u Maršova, and continues into the cadastral area of BezděčĂn. Biocorridor LBK 1414 “OborskĂ˝ potok” runs through Obora u Maršova and also continues into the cadastral area of BezděčĂn; its functional section measures 1,150 m, and its non-functional section 1,090 m. The figures differ by unit and status: hectares describe areas, while metres describe the lengths of corridors or sections. For LBK 1414, the two sections are listed separately with their respective functional status.
Collection in the surrounding area
The former granary Špejchar Želeč is located near Obora. It houses an almost complete collection of agricultural machinery used in the past. The collection includes old carts, threshing machines, ploughs and harnesses, as well as toys, wicker prams and other objects that illustrate the everyday life of rural households. It therefore extends beyond tools used for fieldwork to include items from domestic life and childhood.
