When planning a stay in Svrabov, three topics are especially practical: the apartments at Farma Hejlov, the village’s history, and routes through the village and its surroundings. For travel planning, a bus route and Nasavrky, one of the nearest railway stops, are useful points of reference.
Accommodation in Svrabov
Farma Hejlov offers four apartments with a total of 22 beds. Guests at the farm can use a pool by a pond and a children’s playground, and can also go fishing. When planning, note that the figures refer to different things: four apartments is the number of units, while 22 beds is the total capacity.
Getting there by bus and train
The Tábor–Radkov–Borotín–Jistebnice bus route serves Svrabov; check current operating times before travelling. Nasavrky is one of the nearest railway stops to Svrabov. If travelling by train, Nasavrky is a useful point of reference when checking current connections.
History in the chapel and castle
The first documented mention of Svrabov dates to 1318. At that time, it was the seat of the Vladik Bartoš of Svrabov and Klokoty. The castle is also associated with a specific person: the well-known Czech poet of the National Revival and Catholic priest Josef Václav Kamarýt stayed as a guest at Svrabov Castle. The early mention and Kamarýt’s stay highlight different aspects of history: one relates to the settlement, the other to a figure in Czech literary history.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Svrabov has its own story. After 1918, the local lord of the manor had it built out of gratitude that his son had returned from the First World War alive and well. The chapel was repaired around 2000. The original reason for its construction and the repair took place at different times: the first explains why it was built, while the second describes later work on the building.
A description from 2008 called the once extensive park at Svrabov Castle neglected. If the park is relevant to your plans, check its current condition before visiting.
Surroundings and routes
The area around Svrabov has numerous ponds, copses, fields and pastures; local tourist routes also run through the area. Cycle Route 11 passes through Svrabov. The Tábor–Prčice–Tábor route also goes through the village. These are different points of reference for planning: a cycle route through the village, tourist routes in the surrounding area, and a named route whose current edition details may be relevant. Before setting off, check the current markings for the cycle route and local routes; before travelling, check the details in the current edition of Tábor–Prčice–Tábor.
