On the edge of the Brdy Forests, Příkosice lies on the railway line from Rokycany to Nezvěstice. Good road and, especially, rail connections make the village a destination for day trips and recreation for people from larger cities. For your specific train journey, check the current timetable. Historically, too, a trail leads from Příkosice to Homberk Castle; there is also the rocky landscape of Příkosická skála and a geological perspective on Homberk. For travellers choosing between landscapes, local history and climbing, Příkosice offers several distinct points of interest.

Homberk: castle history and geology

Historically, Příkosice is linked to Homberk Castle, which is first mentioned indirectly in this context in 1368. In 1406, royal troops besieged and captured the castle. It was built on two closely spaced outcrops of buližník, connected by a low saddle. Its buildings were probably mostly made of wood.

Homberk is also a geological site: it illustrates the cooling of lava during a submarine eruption. In a broader context, this includes volcanism associated with underwater eruptions, hydrothermal activity and concentric stromatolitic structures. While the castle points to medieval history, the geological interpretation offers a different perspective on the timescale associated with the same name.

Landscape, rail and cycling

Příkosice’s location on the edge of the Brdy Forests gives it a clear connection to the landscape. The long-distance cycling route CT 352—the Inner Circuit of the Region—is also relevant to cyclists: regional planning for the 2021–2029 period includes Příkosice among the municipalities concerned. If you include CT 352 in your route choice, check the current route.

Příkosická skála: rocks and walking route

Příkosická skála consists of several scattered buližník rock formations on the rocky Homberk ridge, reaching heights of up to 18 metres. The climbing rocks are equipped with fixed lower-off anchors; alternatively, climbers can use trees for protection. Check the condition of your climbing equipment before setting out.

The climbing area can be reached on foot from Příkosice railway station via the path by the former JZD. The route passes the cemetery, crosses Kuželkovic vršek (556 m) and continues along forest paths to Homberk. As trail conditions may vary, check them before setting out.

More traces of history and choosing where to stay

There is a statue of Saint Anthony of Padua in the village. Another precisely dated event: on 1 February 1825, a fata morgana occurred near Příkosice, by Rokycany.

When looking for a holiday rental, weigh up the different points of interest: Homberk brings together castle history and geology, while Příkosická skála is known for its rock formations and climbing area. The location on the edge of the Brdy Forests and the railway connection add to the reasons to choose Příkosice as a travel destination.
