Plískov offers a starting point for a stay focused on village history or the wooded surroundings. If you’re looking for a holiday apartment in Plískov, you can consider which of these aspects of the village you’d like to focus on when planning your trip: the cultural monument on the village square, historical traces and local traditions, or a walk around the surrounding area.

Chapel and Local History

A chapel dating from 1849 stands on the village square. It is listed as a protected cultural monument under ÚSKP number 27572/4-2566. This brings together a specific construction date and designated monument status in one place. The memorial to the fallen of the First World War is also part of the local history of remembrance. It was created by Vojtěch Havíř, a stonemason and sculptor from Radnice.

Plískov’s history can also be traced through its changing uses and ownership. In 1377, the village was a Kmetcím farmstead owned by Jan Drahoň of Újezd. In 1585, Plískov was sold to Ladislav the Elder of Lobkowicz, thereby becoming connected with Zbiroh. During the time Dr. Strousberg owned the Zbiroh estate, iron ore was mined in Plískov. These milestones mark different things: early ownership, a later sale and a period of mining.

Beekeeping is also part of the village’s history. It was once practised in Plískov and continues to this day, though now by only a few beekeepers. This living tradition adds a connection to the past that is not confined to distant history.

Woodland Surroundings and Circular Walk

Plískov is characterised by its wooded surroundings. If you’d like to include the landscape in your trip planning, as well as the village’s buildings and history, there is a circular walking route that passes old log cabins. Access to some individual buildings may be restricted, so don’t assume they will be open for viewing.

On the circular walk, next to the chapel, there is a pond covered with water lilies and a place to rest. The pond adds a stop in the area around the village square to the architectural sights. Water lily growth and resting conditions may change, so bear this in mind if you plan to make this section a fixed part of your trip.

The chapel represents the village’s history; the circular walking route passes old log cabins. This lets you focus your stay on either local history or the landscape without having to combine both themes into a set route.

Běh Bukovem as a Reason to Visit

Běh Bukovem is a running festival that forms part of the Brdský běžecký pohár. The route runs across meadows, forest tracks and footpaths in Bukov and Plískov; its course may change from one edition to another. If the race is the reason for your trip, check the date and route for the relevant edition before finalising your stay.

When planning, it helps to distinguish between the event and a visit to the village: the race takes place on its scheduled date, while the chapel, memorial and local history offer other ways to explore Plískov. This lets you plan your trip around either a specific running event or the local cultural and landscape attractions.
