Zbůch combines mining history with late Baroque chapels and an active leisure option. At the Hornické muzeum, you can enter a representative mine tunnel; the area also offers architectural history in Zbůch and Červený Újezd, as well as a freely accessible disc golf course. This distinction makes the choice more specific when planning your trip: those interested in mining will find the main focus at the museum; the chapels and preserved village square layout are the main attractions for architectural and local history. Disc golf offers a different focus from the historic sites.

Mining history at the Hornické muzeum

The Hornické muzeum added an outdoor exhibition in 2021. There, you can enter a representative mine tunnel designed as a faithful copy of a coal mine and the miners’ workplace. The visit therefore brings two perspectives together: the recreated workplace, which you can enter, and the museum’s exhibits. Those interested in mining history can thus explore both the working environment and the collection.

A publication from 2019 put the exhibition at around 150 objects, most of them donated by miners and people from the surrounding area. The number may have changed since then. The origins of the items add a local perspective to the recreated working environment.

Late Baroque chapels and their history

The Chapel of Panny Marie is in the centre of Zbůch. It is a late Baroque building that was probably constructed before 1850. In Červený Újezd stands the also late Baroque Chapel of Saint Anne; it probably dates from the first half of the 19th century. Both chapels were declared cultural monuments in August 2003. The construction dates are estimates, whereas the monument designation is dated by month and year. This makes it possible to distinguish between the buildings’ probable dates of origin and their later designation.

Services are held at the Chapel of Panny Marie every Saturday at 1:30 p.m. throughout the year. If you are planning to attend a service, check the arrangements locally, as service times may change.

Červený Újezd: village square and local history

Červený Újezd merged with Zbůch in 1960. To this day, the village has retained the medieval layout of its village square. This adds another perspective on the area to the architectural history of the Chapel of Saint Anne: alongside an individual religious building, there is the inherited form of the village square. Those interested in history will therefore find both a specific building and a village layout shaped by the Middle Ages.

Disc golf and cycling facilities

Zbůch’s disc golf course was officially opened on 6 May 2024. It has six holes and is located in the forest park behind the V cihelně sports complex. The course is freely accessible to the public, and discs can be borrowed there. This provides an independent outdoor activity alongside the cultural and historical attractions.

The “V Cihelně” Cyklopoint offers a bicycle charging station, bicycle tools and a map. It is located near the popular V Cihelně restaurant. For cycling plans, this means there are specific resources to rely on, including a charging option, tools and maps.
