Bezvěrov offers travelers several points of interest: the history of a glassworks, a historic boundary stone ensemble, a hiking route and the starry skies of the Manětín Dark Sky Region. There is also an annual event in Krašov. You can tailor your stay to specific interests—from industrial history to a hike or a visit on a set date.

Glassworks and industrial heritage

The Kavalier glassworks in Bezvěrov was founded in 1867 by Czech entrepreneur Eduard Kavalier. It produced hollow glass, crystal glass and chemical glass; its laboratory glass in particular was also valued overseas. The business closed in 1923. The timeline is clear: its founding in the 19th century was followed by diverse production, which came to an end after more than five decades.

The former glassworks includes a group of residential buildings and factory buildings, which are classified as industrial heritage. These surviving structures add another perspective to the history of production: the glassworks shapes the town’s cultural heritage through its preserved buildings as well as through its products.

Boundary stones and chapel

Eight surviving sandstone boundary stones in the cadastral area of Bezvěrov mark another chapter in the town’s history. The stones belong to a historic system for marking property boundaries. The date 1686 is preserved on the ensemble. Given how much of it survives, the boundary stone ensemble is considered an exceptional example of 17th-century property demarcation and an important testament to historical development.

The Chapel of St. Florian also represents a specific historical period: it dates from the second half of the 19th century. Its bell is still in use today. The boundary stones, chapel and glassworks offer different ways to explore cultural heritage—through property demarcation, religious architecture and earlier industrial production.

Hiking and the night sky

One hiking option is the 17.5 km Bezvěrov–Vlkošov–Zbraslavský vrch–Kozelka–Doubravice–Nečtiny route. It starts in Bezvěrov and initially follows the red-marked trail northeast to Služetín, 3 km away. The 17.5 km is the length of the route; check trail conditions before setting out.

The night landscape is also part of the area’s character. Bezvěrov is one of the ten municipalities in the Manětín Dark Sky Region. The area covers 346 km² and offers a relatively well-preserved night environment and star-filled skies. The region is easily accessible to visitors, and there are no restrictions on movement for nature conservation reasons. Hiking and stargazing therefore appeal to different interests and times of day.

Krašov: Getting there and a set-date event

Krašov can be reached from Bezvěrov on foot, by bicycle or by car. Parking is available at the transmitter and at the former bus stop in Krašov. As local parking regulations may change, check them before setting out.

A pilgrimage Mass with Trappist monks is held every year on November 30, the feast of St. Andrew, at the Church of St. Andrew in Krašov. If you would like to plan your trip around this occasion, check the event dates before visiting. The fixed date gives you a specific point of reference when choosing when to travel.
