A pond divides Krašovice into Ves and Bojiště, while the village lies at the confluence of the Bělá and Brodský streams. This landscape is complemented by a Baroque church, the remains of a fortress and local cultural activities. Krašovice therefore offers various points to consider when making your choice: waterways, local history, events and routes can each be considered as separate themes.
Water and the Layout of the Village
The 5.8-hectare pond divides Krašovice into the two districts of Ves and Bojiště. Together with the confluence of the streams, it is a clear point of reference for the village: the pond marks the division of the settlement, while the streams indicate its geographical location. Those interested in the landscape and waterways will therefore find two distinct local features here, rather than just a general description of the surroundings.
Roads and Routes
The district road from Plzeň to Manětín runs through Krašovice. Two route descriptions also place the village in different contexts: the 10.2 km section of the Železná trasa runs from Plasy Monastery to Krašovice. The 54 km “Do lesů plných borůvek” cycling route also passes through the village. The figures therefore refer to different routes: one is a named section with a start and end point, while the other is the length of a cycling route that passes through Krašovice.
Church and Fortress Remains
The most significant monument in Krašovice is considered to be the Baroque church of sv. Jiljí, built in 1778. The remains of Krašovice Fortress are also located on the eastern edge of the village, near house no. 38. Only faint traces of its fortifications and rampart remain. The two sites thus represent different kinds of historical evidence: the church as a named Baroque monument, and the fortress as archaeological remains with only faint traces surviving.
Studio, Theatre and Local Culture
Ateliér Krašovice regularly hosts exhibitions and gallery openings in the attic of the municipal office. It also offers weekend workshops in artistic and craft techniques, led by specialist instructors. Art classes are taught by MgA. Petra Krausová and attended by children and adults from Krašovice and the surrounding area. Exhibitions, hands-on workshops and classes offer different ways to take part in the studio’s activities. If you would like to include a particular activity in your plans, check its date in advance.
Performances are also part of local cultural life. The KROS theatre group performs in surrounding villages and in the local hall of the Krašovice community centre. The children’s group KROSÁČEK takes part in various cultural events. These are two different points of interest for visitors interested in theatre or performances as part of local events.
Events and Dates
The Krašovice Volunteer Fire Brigade organizes a Masopustní průvod (Shrovetide procession) every year. Another event is the traditional Krašovická jízda přes velký rybník: participants try to cross the pond on bicycles using a bridge that is 125 m long and only 10 to 30 cm wide. These are different kinds of events—a procession held annually and an event featuring a special cycling challenge. If an event is the deciding factor in your trip, check the exact dates in advance.
When choosing where to stay, you can distinguish between the permanent landscape and historical features and cultural activities with specific dates. This makes it possible to first assess whether Krašovice’s pond landscape, historic monuments, studio or events suit your travel interests before looking for a holiday apartment for your stay.
