Nature, regional products and local history shape Květná: the nature trail introduces twelve native forest tree species, the Sýrárna Květná offers cheese tastings, and the church tower still houses original bells dating from 1416. The approximately 300-meter-long Lesní škola Květná nature trail combines nature observation with brief factual information; the Sýrárna Květná adds cheese-making and tastings to the picture. Distinctive farmhouses and local events also add their own character. When looking for a place to stay, start with a simple question: should your visit focus mainly on the forest, regional products or local history?
Forest knowledge and the seasons
The nature trail is approximately 300 meters long and has six information boards. Illustrations and brief descriptions introduce twelve native forest tree species found in the region. The combination of concise information and a specific number of species gives the trail a clearly defined nature theme: you can learn about individual tree species from the boards rather than simply cover a distance.
The seasons also change how you experience the trail. In spring, you can examine herbs and grasses and watch birds; in autumn, you can collect leaves and fruit. This offers two different ways to experience nature: observing and examining in spring, and collecting in autumn.
Routes and getting there
The paved section of the nature trail and the forest path also serve as a local cycling route; pedestrians have priority. Plan for both pedestrian and bicycle traffic here, and observe the conditions on site.
The nature trail is 100 meters from Květná railway station. The station is on railway line No. 261 between Svitavy and Žďárec u Skutče. If you plan to travel by train, check the current timetable for the line separately.
Cheese from Sýrárna Květná
Cheese and other products are available to taste at Sýrárna Květná. The cheese dairy makes and sells fresh, matured, smoked, steamed and affinaged cheeses, using cow’s and goat’s milk. If you would also like your stay to focus on regional foods, the tastings offer a specific culinary point of interest alongside the nature and history themes.
Architecture, bells and events
A 2007 profile describes distinctive German farmhouses near the stream, largely preserved with unplastered marlstone walls and decorative window surrounds. Window surrounds are decorative frames around windows; the marlstone walls identify the building material, while the surrounds describe the window detailing. Those interested in architectural history can thus consider two specific aspects of the house style described: its materials and its window frames.
Květná’s church tower still houses original bells dating from 1416. The date adds a striking historical connection to the church’s architecture.
The 2025 municipal newsletter linked the traditional pilgrimage of Saint Lawrence with summer cinema screenings and family events. If you would like to plan your trip around a specific event, check the dates and programme separately for your intended travel period.
