Vysoké Mýto offers historic buildings, views and educational trails of varying lengths. When planning a stay, options range from a loop through parks in the historic centre to longer routes into the surrounding forests. The town also has a technology-focused museum, a motorsport circuit and a public swimming pool.

City Gate and Views

The Pražská brána is the best-preserved of Vysoké Mýto’s historic city gates. Its large tower serves as a lookout tower and is open to the public. In good visibility, the Krkonoše, Orlické Mountains and Králický Sněžník can be seen from there. Check the current opening hours before your visit.

Church History and Art

Construction of the Church of St. Lawrence began when Vysoké Mýto was founded; in the early 14th century, it was elevated to the status of a deanery church. The church brings together other distinct periods: its Art Nouveau furnishings include numerous figurative scenes from the workshop of painter Karel Vítězslav Mašek, while it also houses a late Gothic baptismal font dating from 1499. The font and the Art Nouveau scenes offer a concrete comparison between two art-historical highlights within the same church.

Educational Trails by Length and Route

The town’s circular educational trail is 1.2 kilometres long and loops through the city parks in the historic centre. The 9-kilometre nature route takes a different approach: it leads from Vysoké Mýto into the surrounding forests and through the varied landscape and nature around the town. The two routes therefore differ both in length and in whether they focus on the town or its surroundings.

Another educational trail route is almost 20 kilometres long. It starts in the historic centre at the Church of St. Lawrence and leads via Knířov, the chapel above Vanice, Sedlec and Vraclav back to Vysoké Mýto. It thus connects a starting point in town with several named stops and a return to the starting point. As route details may change due to future maintenance work, check the current route before setting off.

Technology, Motorsport and Swimming

Since 2026, the Krajské technické muzeum Vysoké Mýto has been a modern, technology-focused institution in the Pardubice Region. Interactive features make it an appealing destination for children and adults. Travellers who want to include technology alongside the town’s history in their plans will find a dedicated focus here. Check the latest operating information before your visit.

Karts for children and adults are available to rent at the Vysoké Mýto Autodrom; availability may vary. The circuit also hosts numerous international kart and motorcycle races. If a race is important to your travel plans, check the event dates in advance.

The public Tyršova swimming pool has a water area measuring 106 × 60 metres, as well as an additional 50 × 12-metre pool. Seasonal operations may vary; check the current opening times before visiting. This makes the swimming pool an option in its own right alongside the historic and technical attractions.
