Jablonné nad Orlicí offers different ways to plan your stay: historic buildings await you at the town square, marked hiking trails lie nearby, and there are dedicated destinations for climbing and winter sports. A walking loop, an uphill cycling route and a ski area differ in activity and character.

Town Square and Layers of History

The central square of the urban conservation area is lined with historic buildings. In its center stands the late Baroque Marian sculpture Immaculata, dating from 1748. The square thus brings together a historic setting and a single, clearly dated work of art.

The history of the Church of St. Bartholomew can also be viewed through different dates: the church and its parish were first mentioned in 1370, while the present-day tower was completed in 1680. The first mention and the completion refer to different historical milestones, not to the same building event. A stone bridge over the Tichá Orlice dates from 1840 and bears statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint Florian.

Walking, Hiking and Cycling

The “Po stopách mlsného medvěda” walking loop is approximately 4.5 kilometers long. Its approximate length provides a guide for a walk without assuming a walking time. The Jiráskova cesta is an important marked route for hikes in the area around the town. The loop and the named hiking route therefore offer different options for planning your day. Trail conditions and markings can change; check them before your trip.

For a different way to plan a cycling route, take Route 4074: it starts at the town square and follows an uphill paved country road toward Jamné nad Orlicí. Its starting point, direction and road surface give the route a clear character. Check the surface condition and markings before setting out.

Rocks, Outdoor Swimming Pool and Winter Sports

The Hradiska climbing area lies in a narrow valley of the Orličský potok, at the exit from Jablonné nad Orlicí toward Orličky. Gneiss rocks can be found on both banks of the stream. Žižkova skála, with Velká plotna, also called Placka, and Vlčí Tlama are considered the area's most attractive climbing crags. Rocks suitable for climbing can be found at the edge of the Hradiska Valley, 100 meters from the outdoor swimming pool. Conditions and access may change; check the current situation before climbing.

The outdoor pool at the Jablonné nad Orlicí natural swimming area measures 76 × 30 meters. An excursion into the valley known as Hradiska can also begin from the swimming area. This gives you a choice between a pool with specified dimensions and an opportunity to explore the surrounding landscape.

The Malák ski area, close to town, lies 300 meters west of the center. It has two ski lifts and three ski runs; its facilities include night lighting and a ski school. This makes Malák a distinct winter sports option alongside the hiking, cycling and climbing opportunities. The facilities and seasonal operations may change. Check the latest information before planning your trip around them.
