Those considering Myslejovice as a destination will find archaeological traces from various periods and a Baroque church with a clearly documented date. The village lies on the eastern edge of the Drahanská vrchovina and is surrounded by the forests of the Březina Military Training Area. Its landscape and history give the place a distinctive character; for some attractions, access conditions should also be taken into account.

Landscape and Access

The Myslejovická Reservoir lies within the Březina Military Training Area. Fishing there is restricted due to military exercises. If you plan to fish, check the current conditions before your trip. This will ensure that the reservoir’s specific restrictions are taken into account in your plans.

Ramparts and Traces of Settlement

On Spálený kopec are the remains of a rampart dating from the transition between the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age. It is dated to the 9th to 7th centuries BC. The fortification consists of three ramparts built of stone and clay. Given its small size and the scarcity of finds, it is thought to have probably served as a refuge.

Remains of ramparts dating to the period of early Slavic settlement are also found on the nearby hills of Kozákov, Zámčisko and Spálený vrch. Traces of settlement from the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Celtic culture have also been found in the area around Myslejovice.

Křéba and Zámčisko: Different Access Conditions

The remains of the hillfort known as Křéba lie about 400 metres from the village centre. The site is freely accessible; confirm access before your visit. The ground drops away on its southern and western sides above the Brodečka and a tributary on its left bank. The elevation difference is up to 60 metres.

The wooded hill of Zámčisko lies about 500 metres west of Myslejovice. A small castle stood there in the Middle Ages. Unlike the Křéba archaeological site, the former castle site is not open to the public without a permit, as it lies within the Březina Military Training Area. Check the current rules for the area before visiting; the hill’s historical significance does not alter this access restriction.

Baroque Church and Cycling Route

The Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque building dating from 1788. It provides a clearly dated later historical reference point alongside the prehistoric and medieval traces in the surrounding area. Myslejovice’s history therefore cannot be reduced to its ramparts alone: the church complements the archaeological evidence with an 18th-century building.

A signposted local cycling route passes through Myslejovice. Before setting off, check whether the route markers are still up to date. This is a useful addition to your plans, particularly if you would like to include a bike ride.
