The Pilávka Valley invites you to enjoy walks, while two chapels bring Ochoz’s history to life through their different dates and locations. Ochozská kyselka is another point of interest; when planning a visit, it is also important to check its current condition.
Chapels and local history
Ochoz is first mentioned in historical records in 1351. The Chapel of St Wenceslas stands by the Ochoz school and dates from 1884. The original Chapel of St Libor dates from 1669; it was rebuilt in 1910 and stands at a crossroads on the old trade route towards Kladky.
The years refer to different things: 1351 marks the first mention of the village, 1669 the original Chapel of St Libor, and 1910 its reconstruction; 1884 is the date of the Chapel of St Wenceslas. Their locations also help distinguish them: the Chapel of St Libor stands at the crossroads on the old trade route towards Kladky, while the Chapel of St Wenceslas is by the school. This makes it possible to consider the building history and local setting of the two chapels separately.
Walks and Ochozská kyselka
The entire Pilávka Valley is ideal for walks. Bear the local ground conditions in mind. Ochozská kyselka is a popular destination; it lies in the valley near the former Ochozský mlýn. The valley provides a scenic setting for walks, while the spring is a specific place to visit.
Water can currently be drawn from a spring using a hand pump beside a wooden pavilion. At the same time, Ochozská kyselka can currently be found at only one spring, which is in poor condition. Check its condition on site before making a special trip to the spring. When walking, it is important to pay attention to the local ground conditions; when drawing water, the condition of the individual spring is also a factor.
Food and events
Náš Mlýn is a project to revive Ochozský mlýn in the Rakovské Valley, on the edge of Ochoz u Konice. DEN U NÁS offers a distinct experience: this 24-hour culinary event brings together nature, traditions, crafts, art and cuisine. This thematic combination offers a different perspective from the chapels, where individual buildings and their history are the focus.
Náš Mlýn also offers a venue for wedding receptions. One of the major events in Ochoz is the Svatováclavské vepřové hody; its dates may vary. The culinary experience, event venue and village festival are different occasions, each of which may play a different role in your plans.
Plan when to visit
If the Svatováclavské vepřové hody are a reason for your trip, check the specific event date before planning your trip and looking for a holiday apartment around it. Dates may vary. By contrast, the years associated with the chapels help you place their history in context; they are not event dates.
