The deep valley and the Tichávka stream give Tichá a clearly defined landscape. The stream runs through the centre from east to west; the highest point on Tichavská Hůrka is 544 m above sea level. Other features include the Travertinová kaskáda, the first nature trail, the history of the Church of St Nicholas and a seasonal programme of readings. Landscape, nature and culture come together here in several distinct themes.

Valley, Stream and Cascade

Tichá lies in the Přírodní park Podbeskydí nature park. In the centre, the Tichávka stream runs from east to west through the deep valley; the highest point on Tichavská Hůrka is 544 m above sea level. These details offer different perspectives: the nature park as a landscape setting, the course of the valley through the village and a specific, measured high point. Those who like to understand landscapes through named features will find more here than a general natural backdrop.

The Travertinová kaskáda lies on the southwest slope of Tichavská Hůrka, on the right bank of the Tichávka. Its location connects a named slope with a named watercourse and adds a specific natural feature to the description of the valley. The cascade can thus be viewed alongside the stream and the high point as a precisely located feature of Tichá’s landscape.

A Nature Trail with Several Stations

The first nature trail in Tichá was officially opened on 17 November 2012. It has five stations with information boards, as well as several mini-stations marked with QR signs. Alongside the individual landscape features, an organised approach to sharing information is also part of the village’s character. Visitors who organise their travel interests by theme can consider the nature trail as a focus in its own right, alongside nature and local history.

Church History and Stained Glass

The history of the Church of St Nicholas includes both its destruction and its replacement. On 13 August 1964, lightning struck the original church, setting it on fire and completely destroying it. In 1976, a new brick Church of St Nicholas was built on the same site as a modern replacement for the original building. The two dates make the transition in the building’s history clear: the destruction was followed twelve years later by a replacement on the same site.

Stained glass is another cultural connection. After attending a vocational school of arts and crafts in Brno, Alžběta Fojtíková learned various stained-glass techniques. This biographical connection offers a different perspective on culture and craftsmanship alongside the church’s history.

A Seasonal Reading Event

In summer 2026, readings were held regularly on Thursdays at the Tichá library as part of the “3 pohádky ve 3” programme. This specific time frame distinguishes the events programme from the landscape features associated with the village and its church history. For travellers who include cultural events in their plans, this is a seasonal programme highlight.

The time frame is a useful distinction when planning a trip: the Tichávka, the cascade and the church’s history are specific features of the village; the readings were part of the summer 2026 programme. A seasonal cultural event therefore sits alongside the landscape and architectural history as a different way to experience Tichá.
