Rybí is a destination for travellers who want to discover a place through its walks, landscape and history. One particularly tangible way to do so is the Adolf Zábranský Nature Trail, which connects an artistic theme with the landscape. The church, field chapels and Stations of the Cross bring the history of the place into focus. When planning your trip, you can choose between a walking route centred on art and landscape, and historic buildings and routes.

Natural surroundings and views

Rybí lies almost entirely within Podbeskydí Nature Park. The park was designated in 1994 to protect the character of the landscape, as well as the significant aesthetic and natural values found there. The cadastral area of Rybí is also part of the Podbeskydí Geopark. The Libotín area also includes the cadastral area of Rybí and is a valuable forest stand of ornithological significance. Holivák Hill is one of the elevations offering wide views and is partly used for ski slopes. If this is important for your plans, check the latest operating information in advance.

The Adolf Zábranský Nature Trail

The Adolf Zábranský Nature Trail is a walking route through the landscape that inspired the painter and illustrator Adolf Zábranský. Information boards at ten stops provide details about his life, work and illustrations. The route also offers views of the hilly landscape of Podbeskydí Nature Park. The walk thus combines information about the artist and his work with views of the landscape that inspired him.

The spring hiking march

The “Za pohledy z Rybí” hiking march takes place every year in Rybí in spring. The routes are 25 km, 13.5 km and 10 km long; the shortest and longest options differ considerably in length. One route is suitable for pushchairs. The programme for children includes a fairy-tale forest and a bouncy castle at the finish. If you would like to include the march in your travel plans, check the latest event dates.

Church and historic routes

The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross in Rybí is an early Gothic church dating from the second half of the 13th century and was later rebuilt. Two field chapels in Rybí commemorate the former pilgrimage procession from Nový Jičín to the pilgrimage churches in Štramberk. The historic Stations of the Cross were established in the 17th century and led from the outskirts of Nový Jičín through Rybí to Štramberk and onwards to Kotouč Hill. Seven of the original 14 brick chapels remain. These landmarks reveal different aspects of religious history: the building history of a church, the memory of a procession and the course of a historic Stations of the Cross route. The church is several centuries older than the Stations of the Cross, which were established in the 17th century.
