Luboměř brings together sacred architectural history, landscape, and local events. The late Baroque Church of St. Lawrence and the chapel in Heltínov offer distinct historical points of interest. A green-marked hiking trail, Biskupova skála, and seasonal ice formations add nature and outdoor activities to these themes. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing permanent features from seasonal phenomena and changing event dates.

Church and Chapel: Two Chapters in the Village’s History

The present-day Church of St. Lawrence dates from 1777; its interior is designed in the late Baroque style. It was formerly a pilgrimage church. The building thus brings together the history of its former use and the present-day description of its interior. Christmas concerts have been held in the church for several years. If you are planning your trip around a concert, check the specific dates in advance.

Heltínov is a district of Luboměř, located in the western part of the Oderské vrchy Nature Park. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity was added there in 1800. Its two interior walls feature depictions of the Stations of the Cross, comprising 14 stations in total. The chapel can therefore be understood both in terms of its location within Luboměř and its distinctive interior design.

Landscape, Waterways, and Seasonal Nature

The Něčínský potok flows along the western edge of Luboměř’s cadastral area. Together with other waterways, it forms the source area of the Oder. The network of waterways is therefore important for understanding the geography: the stream is part of a larger system that forms the source area.

Biskupova skála illustrates the connection between the landscape and its former use. It was probably originally used for quarrying slate; the rock was then used for the roofs of local residents’ houses. Slate is therefore not only a feature of the rock formation, but also a traditional building material. In a small cave, ice stalactites can form from seepage water, especially in spring and under favorable climatic conditions. This natural phenomenon is seasonal and depends on the relevant conditions.

Hiking Trail, Sports, and Local Events

A green-marked hiking trail runs through Luboměř. If you plan to include it in your itinerary, check the current trail conditions before setting out. The Na drahách recreation area offers opportunities to play football, volleyball, and tennis. Local recreation thus includes both a marked hiking route and several specific sports at the site.

Football tournaments, fire-sport competitions, dance events, pilgrimages, and community celebrations are held at Na drahách. Luboměř also hosts a major fire-sport competition every year on the Sunday of the patronal feast, around August 10. August 10 is the feast day of St. Lawrence; the specific event date may vary. If an event is a deciding factor in choosing when to travel, check the dates in advance. This lets you plan around a concert, competition, or community celebration without treating a recurring tradition as having a fixed date every year.
