The different points of reference help put Krásná into perspective for a trip: Visalaje is a mountain settlement that administratively belongs to Krásná; the summit of Lysá hora lies on a municipal boundary; and Obidová is a natural monument near the Visalaje recreation centre. There are also hiking and cycling trails, as well as seasonal winter activities. This lets you consider the settlement, the summit area and the natural monument as different aspects of the destination.

Landscape and location

Most of Krásná’s cadastral area lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. The summit of Lysá hora lies on the boundary between the municipalities of Krásná, Malenovice, Ostravice and Staré Hamry. A distinctive telecommunications transmitter, a meteorological station and several mountain huts stand on the bare summit. A road leads from Krásná to the summit. The protected-area designation applies to most of the cadastral area, while the municipal boundary at the summit identifies a single point. This distinction places the landscape and its prominent summit in context at different scales.

Visalaje: mountain settlement and natural landscape

Visalaje is situated in the Zadní hory in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids at an elevation of 800 m and administratively belongs to Krásná. The settlement lies on the watershed between the Morávka and Mohelnice rivers. The elevation describes the location of the mountain settlement; the watershed places it between the river basins. For visitors who want to spend time outdoors, Visalaje offers numerous hiking and cycling trails. The Obidová natural monument is located near the Visalaje recreation centre. It features valuable Beskydy peat meadows, also called Sihlen, in a shallow depression below the ridge and in the source area of the Sihelský potok. The hiking and cycling trails in Visalaje and the Obidová natural monument near the Visalaje recreation centre therefore offer two distinct ways to experience the landscape.

Hiking, cycling and winter activities

In winter, Visalaje has cross-country ski trails as well as a ski area with numerous lifts and runs. Zlatník has several ski runs and lifts; in the southern part, towards Vyšní Mohelnice, you’ll find the Ski Zlatník-Fela ski area. The options therefore vary by location and activity: Visalaje offers cross-country ski trails alongside its ski area, while Zlatník is associated with several runs and lifts as well as Ski Zlatník-Fela. Winter activities operate seasonally, so take the time of year into account when planning.

Circular route and practical information

The “Krásný výlet Krásnou” circular route is 11 km long and starts and ends at the Krásná–Zlatník car park. Its length and shared start and end point provide two specific reference points for planning. Seasonal conditions can vary, so take them into account when considering the route.

Historical background

The origins of Krásná are linked to the Wallachian colonisation of the Beskids. This places the settlement’s beginnings in the historical context of the Beskids’ settlement. This perspective adds the history of the place to its present-day points of reference: the settlement, the summit and the natural landscape.
