Lysá hora gives a trip to Malenovice a clear mountain destination: at 1,323 m, it is the highest peak in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids and the Těšín region, and lies within the municipality’s cadastral area. Malenovice is a starting point for the ascent. Waterfalls, rock formations, nature and winter activities also offer different themes to consider when choosing where to stay. If you are looking for accommodation in Malenovice, it is best to first decide which of these interests will shape your outings.

Mountain destination and educational trail

The Lysá hora educational trail has 15 stations. They cover municipalities, mountain accidents, caves and predators, as well as Wallachians, woodcutters and mountain forests. Its subject matter therefore ranges from nature and landscape to the people and places of the region. For an outing that goes beyond the summit, the trail offers a distinct focus.

Ondrášova skála lies on a yellow-marked hiking trail from Malenovice to Lysá hora. The large sandstone block is associated with local lore: Ondráš is said to have been chosen there as the leader of his followers. At this named stretch of trail, a specific rock formation and a local story come together.

Water, rock and protected areas

The particularly attractive section of the Satina waterfalls is about 1 km long. In places, it has the character of a gorge about 15 m deep and features several waterfalls. The Malenovický kotel Nature Reserve encompasses the Satina stream valley as well as the adjoining western and northern slopes of Lysá hora and Malchor.

Ondrášovy díry are a different geological formation: the 250 m-long system consists of fissure passages and domes and reaches a depth of up to 30 m. Ondrášovy díry are inaccessible because of the risk of falling rocks and debris. Check access conditions locally again, and do not plan to enter the caves.

Local lore and winter activities

Ivančena is a traditional pilgrimage and meeting place for scouts from across the Czech Republic. The pilgrimages continue to this day. At gatherings around 24 April, scouts from all over the country meet on Saturday, and tramps gather on Sunday. If you are planning your trip around this tradition, check the specific dates in advance.

In winter, the Ski Malenovice “Na Staškově” ski and tourism area is located at the foot of Lysá hora in Malenovice. The facility has a large anchor-style drag lift, a platter lift and a children’s rope tow. These lifts are suitable for teaching children and beginners to ski and snowboard. Check operating conditions before travelling and, if you are planning lessons, their availability.

Practical information for outings

The paid Na Konečné car park costs 70 Kč for a full day and is a starting point for outings to Lysá hora or the Satina waterfalls. As parking conditions may change, check them before travelling. Another option is the Frýdlant n. O.–Malenovice route, which is suitable for families with children, e-bikes and bicycles with trailers. Here, too, it is advisable to check current route conditions.

The outings appeal to different interests: the summit and educational trail offer a different focus from the waterfalls, rock formations or gatherings at Ivančena. These differences can help when planning your overnight stay, without trying to squeeze every destination into a single itinerary. Choose your accommodation search based on which experiences matter most during your stay.
